Out of the Blue

As mentioned last night, another leap second is coming before the end of this year. It's like a bad joke based on this bad year... everyone who said 2016 can't end one second too soon is now paying the irony tax. It seems this will come on New Year's Eve at 6:59:59 pm EST, which will be followed by 6:59:60 before the clock hits 7:00 pm. Hope this doesn't throw off the precise coordination of the countdown to midnight... Ryan Seacrest's job is hard enough as it is.

R.I.P.: US actress Debbie Reynolds dies grieving for daughter Carrie Fisher.

Just wondering why we are calling 2016 a bad year? Not necessarily arguing, but wondering why many are calling is so.
Because so many famous people died and the stolen election.

If he wasn't a condescending asshole (and in rare occurrences, he's not), I wouldn't have a problem with him . I treat him like he treats others. When he starts shit, he gets it right back. His own behavior determines how things will go.

Plenty of people like him, he often has solid comments. He just tends to get a little too arrogant/patronizing from time to time, which leads to him getting banned again.

I'll take him over quite a few others.

At the end of the day we've all been assholes and idiots on the internet.
If arguing with people on the internet was the absolute worst thing going on in your universe, I envy you and wish I was as well off as you.
There have been worse people on this site (and don't even get me started on the internet), just count your blessings because we have 3 days left of this horrible year.

Why do you think nobody likes him? Although no quite up to the quality level of the Space Captain of old, the current iterations are IMHO solid contributors to the entertainment value of the Bluesnews comments section.

Does bring interesting imagery when you think of him though.

Take your pick, I'm sure he's in there somewhere...

Well, dude, you don't hear a lot of people going "Awww, crap! Annanias Mathe died!"

Of course we focus on the ones that were famous and well-liked.

Yeah, but has 2016 really killed off more people, or just more people than usual that are popular and well liked? Every year there's people who die we all go 'Awww' to. The response to it seems like it's become something of a meme for everyone to get on board with.

Reality is the world is vastly overpopulated and it's only getting worse. Birth rates are still double death rates...and they're still increasing. Birth control has to be a new global maxim or we're headed for a Malthusian crisis. Granted, we'll likely all be dead before it occurs but your kids are screwed. At current rates each successive decade is going to get worse for everyone on this planet as population increase and move and resources dwindle. It'll make 2016 seem like a picnic by comparison.
