ROM: Extraction Released

ROM: Extraction is now available on Steam, offering an Unreal Engine 4 VR shooter with support for both Vive and Rift headsets. "ROM: Extraction is all about dropping players right into the action and keeping them coming back for more," explains Hess Barber, co-founder and president of First Contact Entertainment. "The addictive fun of its high-energy, round-based play sessions is the foundation on which we’re building an evolving, groundbreaking VR game." A gameplay trailer offers a look, and here are more details from the announcement:
The team at First Contact has leveraged its background crafting AAA first-person-shooter games and cutting-edge VR projects to give ROM: Extraction an intense, highly replayable punch. Players defend themselves against extraterrestrial robots by utilizing their “Reflex” power (the ability to slow down time), which brings an unprecedented style of strategic combat to VR—which First Contact has dubbed "throw, slow and shoot."

ROM: Extraction features the first-person immersion of VR, intuitive motion-based controls, a cooperative social screen, multiple difficulty settings, and global and local leaderboards. The game also includes a dubstep soundtrack composed by Twin Moons, the alias of EDM artist Le Castle Vania.

A full DLC plan ensures fresh and engaging content that further reveals the ROM universe will soon follow the game’s initial launch. Players can expect cooperative multiplayer, new levels, enemies, weapons, power-ups and more in the coming months.

Same.. that definitely says something about the general age and nerdiness level of Bluesnews.

I don't think ROM (Space Knight) has had a comic in... like 15 years?

IDW started a new series in 2015. (Original comics were Marvel, but they lost the license from Parker Brothers. Think their last ROM comic was 85 or 86. They did a Spaceknights miniseries in the early naughts, but ROM was never shown or mentioned, only as his new name and in Human form.)

And I think there were plans of doing a weird shared GI Joe, Micronauts and ROM movie universe at one point.

EDIT: just looked at wikipedia page... it was a shared movie universe of GI Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light and MASK.

Where the hell is a Tron Disc arena game?!?
Using a steering wheel on a Burnout game is like using the Space Shuttle controls to fly a kite.

And I was just about to say that we need more VR games where you are standing in the middle of an arena.....

I wonder if 2016 has more MOBA's or these Stand-In-The-Middle genre games.

For a second I thought they made a ROM Spaceknight game. Now I'm sad.

Game looks cool though.
