I'll put up 5 Guys against In-n-Out any time and say it's as good or better, plus their fries rock.

I went on my first west-coast vaca last month and I could not have been more disappointed with In&Out. 5guys is on a whole other level compared to the bland menu and soggy fries at In&Out.

Booze is definitely the most important thing to let go if you are fighting with gout.

We have Five Guys, but they are new here and I have not had them.

They are worth a look, though I am not sure how that would impact your diet. The burgers are delicious, just make sure and get the little burger. It is more than enough food IMO. They also usually give you a giant paper bag of fries so I guess go light there as well.

Back Yard Burger is healthier than most, but it is still a fast food burger joint. I think they are only in the SE US currently.

I made several diet and lifestyle changes. Unfortunately they haven't entirely helped, as even without the red meat I have had outbreaks. Sucks.

I am partial to In-N-Out, as whenever I traveled to the West coast I would consume large amounts when I could. We have Five Guys, but they are new here and I have not had them.
I had gout back when I drank a lot of beer about every day and ate really unhealthy stuff. I stopped that years ago but it took several months before the gout stopped, mostly. On the other note, I'll put up 5 Guys against In-n-Out any time and say it's as good or better, plus their fries rock.

Big Macs are a guilty pleasure of mine, used to allow myself 1 a month. I haven't had one in over 2 years.....there is just to much information about fast food to allow myself to eat it. I have enough bad habits that will kill me, I had to drop some along the way....

Enjoy the little things in life. I doubt a once a month burger has been the dying regret of anyone ever. That said, maybe consider In-N-Out, Backyard Burger, Shake Shack, or Five Guys instead of a McDonalds if you really want the gluttony to be worth it.

It is just a small part of a bigger picture. A few years ago my body chemistry decided I needed to suffer from gout. Knowing this is a small indication of a larger issue down the road (kidneys, heart failure, etc.), I made several diet and lifestyle changes. Unfortunately they haven't entirely helped, as even without the red meat I have had outbreaks. Sucks.

If the guy who invented the Big Mac lived to 98, then Don Gorske "Big Mac enthusiast" known for eating over 26,000 of them, is bound to be damn near immortal.

Well considering the guy lived to 98 that's not doing them any favors now is it? Heh, this reminds me of the scene from Woody Allen's Sleeper where the scientists explain how all the so-called unhealthy foods were actually healthy.
