'No Man's Sky' Designer Quietly Leaves Hello Games To Work On 'Star Citizen'

Rotfl

This is not a headline, it is not news, it is the plot for either a drama or a comedy dealing with economy, finances, narcissism, failure, bloated development, and much more.

Could be a great idea for a Hollywood movie! Neither directed nor produced nor written by Chris Roberts (because the movie should be finished and released one day).

A few observations:

1. SQ42 has a much higher chance of success vs. the PU. First, it has a limited scope. Second, it's being run by Erin Roberts who has a good track record. So this isn't as much of a bonehead move by Bourn as it would initially appear on the surface.

2. Say what you will about SC, but I can go DL the alpha, play it, and provide feedback to the dev team. This has been ongoing for years, and while their pace indicates they'll run out of money well before they deliver what they've promised, the basic mechanisms are coming along nicely for all to see. The same cannot be said of NMS which almost no one beyond those fellating pukes over at IGN had played before launch. Had the game gone through at least a closed beta, they would have realized what a disaster they had on their hands and could have made changes to improve it.

He has to. He sucks at making games, so he has to bully others.

Also a news outlet that quotes "him" for something that "he" has zero insight over is really saying a lot about that news outlet

Ps.: A Minecraft movie? Minecraft has a story?

Have you played the Minecraft Telltale game? It's pretty good.

HAHAHAHA PROOF that SC has nothing to offer!

I imagine the conversation went like this:

SC: So....you guys did a game about nothing....and made millions....tell us about it
Designer: Hire me and I will.
SC: Ok, we aren't doing anything anyway, and I am tired of all of these hookers and all of this blow
Designer: MUHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

Ugh... can the drama around No Man's Sky and Star Citizen get any more insane?

I feel your pain, Space sim fans. At least there's still Elite:Dangerous and House of the Dying Sun.

Apparently RSI needed someone that had worked on games with lofty, impossible goals, that was o.k. with bullshitting the consumer and ultimately not delivering anything close to what was promised; the former Hello Games designer was the perfect match.

Yeah, saw that elsewhere earlier. Apparently Hello Games is on the rocks atm and is looking to be bought out by someone. Good, a liar like Murray deserves to crash and burn. As for the guy going to SC I guess he just like conning consumers.
