As soon as I saw the power supply plug (USB micro-b, the same as the pi boards, I believe), it seemed kind of obvious.

Nowadays, if a thing has wifi, an LCD screen, or video output, chances are probably 95% that it's a generic MIPS or ARM system-on-chip running Linux. They are so cheap and so powerful it doesn't make sense to build your own anymore.

I'm actually a little surprised. I kind of thought it would be using an FPGA like the Atari Flashbacks.

Although, I did see a video a few days ago showing the GPL license so I was pretty curious about that. Now it makes sense.
