10 Million Play The Crew

UbiBlog announces The Crew is celebrating having hit the 10 million player milestones. The celebration consists of an infographic, helping prove they don't make parties like they used to. Here's one of the factoids they highlight:
The Crew’s sprawling facsimile of the US is one of the biggest open worlds ever created, and in the nearly two years since its release, players have free-driven a collective 11 billion kilometers across it, or about 6,835,083,115 miles (for those of us living in the actual US). That kind of distance – equivalent to a round trip to Pluto – took 19,430 player-years to rack up, a number made possible only because The Crew has hit 10 million players over its lifetime.

I expect that The Crew being added as part of the Ubi30 giveaway boosted the player numbers a bit.

It was also one of the free monthly giveaway games on Xbox a few months ago IIRC.

I tried it for a few hours - the idea of freely driving around the US is quite appealing, especially as a foreigner - but the plot and the quests really weren't doing it for me.

I played it for a few hours. The handling is abysmal. I like open world games but I cannot see myself playing this. I just hope that the handling in Horizon 3 is better but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Next racer I'll probably try is Assetto Corsa. Project Cars' handling is pretty good but there are still some problems like brakes never locking up etc.

Ok if you have ever played a Forza or Forza Horizon game how DARE you bitch about car handling. If the car handling is wrong, then you are driving it wrong.

That being said, The Crew has BAD car handling. Which surprises me because this was originally suppose to be a "Driver" game. It's worse then Watch Dogs, but slightly better then Sleeping Dogs car handling.

I've now played Forza Motorsports 6 and Forza Horizon 3.

FM6 has pretty good physics but FH3 is just terrible. It's pure Arcade. Better than The Crew but more on the level of TDU2.
Now we donce.

I want more driving SIMULATORS. This consoley, arcadey bullshit these days is just not my cup of tea. There was a time when Need For Speed had semi-realistic physics. High Stakes and Porsche Unleashed were the best in the series.

Grid and Dirt 2 are pretty good, but FH3 is just dumbed down arcade trash again. :/

It's an arcade racer. As you level up and upgrade the car the handling gets better. But you have to drive shit for a while. If you're looking at Assetto Corsa you're in a completely different genre.

there is no way this flop has 10 million. 10 million have looked at it maybe but there is no way this is factual

10 million in total have tried it, sure. I mean, it was free on the Xbox, free on the PC. People will definitely give it a go.

But actual people playing was maybe a few hundred on the xbone.

That said, it's a fun, though flawed, game. For free, it's a no-brainer.

The story is terribad.

And I really don't like how F2P the expansion feels. There's all these integrations and shit and prompts to do things and you go try to do them and it smashes you up against a 30 dollar paywall. It's frustrating because I don't feel like I have a complete product even though theoretically I totally do.

I was having fun with it for a while. Life got busy and I stopped playing. I intend to go back but haven't had the time.

It's fun for an hour or two...until you realize like every other fucking Ubisoft game it's all filler. Grind, grind, and more grind. After several hours I had had enough. Won't be going back.
