Everyone bought into agile development hook line and sinker.. Unless your goal is testing this will always be a afterthought. It's great for the bottom line, and iterating a design, but not so great for quality.

You said it all, it is great for the bottom line, which is basically everything. Quality is relative and if good enough, that is good enough. Really if things were tested out to the hilt, you would just have less features and still have bugs.

This is more than just lowly app developers these days.. witness what is happening to Autodesk, Microsoft, Google, etc.

There's a reason this meme is so popular.

Integrated test environments are difficult to set up and expensive to maintain. It would behoove Google and Apple to make some available to developers either free or for a minimal fee.

Or the final step in app development is done on production systems, that sounds more like the real world.

Maybe those app developers should test their apps in test environments first then.

These were, inability to fully recreate production environments in testing (33 percent), interdependence on external systems that makes integration testing difficult (27 percent) and testing against unrealistic data before moving into production (26 percent).
