Star Citizen Squadron 42 Delayed

The Squadron 42 campaign for Star Citizen is delayed until 2017, reports Kotaku UK, saying the news was revealed during a livestream from CitizenCon. The first chapter of the single-player side of the space simulator was most recently supposed to come to backers this year, but this news confirms rumors of a delay that surfaced last month. On the bright side, Eurogamer notes that Cloud Imperium Games released a new video showing off how planets will be procedurally generated in the game, along with other tidbits, including a sandworm, though they don't specify whether this is showing us Beetleguise or Dune. Back to the delay, the Kotaku UK story offers two slides with details on the state of the project, and here is what those say:

Haha another ridiculous claim.

While it is true that the extreme doomsayers (of which I have never been a part FWIW) who predicted CIG would fold any minute now were proven wrong, everyone else (the regular skeptics) has not just been proven right but no one ever expected in their worst nightmares that CIG would suck as hard as they do.

I mean let's look at what we have here. According to Chris Roberts' own words we are now five years in and what do we have?

- Still no Squadron 42 which was originally promised to be out by November 2014 in its entirety. And what do we have? Not even a single episode and not even a single mission is done so it can be presented to the public at the annual fan show. L to the O to the L.
- A persistent universe with barely any persistence at all, a single half-assed star system out of 100, a 24 player max limit in a single fucking instance, ZERO finished gameplay systems... !Z-E-R-O! ... and to add insult to injury all of this half-assed shit is buggy as fuck, as stable as a wobbling bewb and connections about as reliable as back in the dial-up 56K US Robotic days

What CIG has "achieved" so far is so underwhelming that there are no words to properly describe the entire patheticness of it all.

Actually, yes it is. If expanding the scope of the project means having to throw out hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work, then you have done something wrong in the planning and/or execution. You aren't 'expanding' anything. It's the difference between building a house and then building an extension, and building a house, bulldozing it flat and then building a bigger one.
Nonsense. Valve basically went back to the drawing board with the original Half-Life and that went onto be one of the definitive video games of all time; Team Fortress 2 was originally completely unrecognisable from the game it became; Valve also had major issues with Half-Life 2, resulting in significant delays but people now remember it as an all time classic game. What matters is the end result - iteration is an important aspect of video game development.

Honestly I don't know why you keep coming here (or myself for that matter) and trying to show most these morons how things are coming along and how their "facts" are non-facts. The Tech that RSI and the other teams have produced for SC and SQ42 is just jaw dropping and no one around here could do the same or wish they could do the same.

...

I like your determination and your passion to show these clowns what SC is going to be but like or the DEV road map but when they or something they state as truth is proven wrong, they move on to another complaint or another falsehood. And I doubt you'll ever change most of their minds. Oh and like I said before, you know almost if not all have or will get SC when its released so I think its funny in that way ...
As much as it may seem like a lost cause I think it's worth putting in the effort. There's only so long the critics of the game can bash the game before it proves them wrong, as it has done many times already. It's a major technological challenge and CIG has been doing an astonishing job. I have my issues with the game's development but overall it's moving very much in the right direction.

But... but... but... he is only interested in the SUPER-AWESOME TEKNOLOGEEEEE!!!111

I mean no other developer has ever had 64-bit precision in their game. No one has ever done procedural generation before. And no one has ever made a game where you can choose to play in 1st person or in 3rd person. ALL OF THIS IS GROUNDBREAKING U IDIOT!!!

As long as the money is rolling Roberts will just keep chugging along making new ships to sell, and putting together snazzy demos of small chunks of his grand idea. People who have put tons of $$$ into this game will "ooh" and "aaahh" at the "amazing tech" on display, while dates are pushed back again, another rewrite of "X" system is started so that in the end this amazing product can finally be published.

Rinse and repeat. The real trouble will begin if the money stops.
Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishfull thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.

Lol, i think what "vexes" me about him is the complete denial that he is a loyal derek smart follower and then has the ballz to accuse someone else of being someone else when he doesn't have a clue. He tries to be witty and post links , just like DS and most his posts are just regurgitation of the DS fact chain. And then tries to change the subject when called out on it.

If he would look at any of my post, suspect or whatever, never have i said that i own SC, on the contrary, and most if not all are about the hope to see the tech because that is the only thing i like about sc and what that leap in tech will do for other games in the future. But whatever ... another 30 posts to go!

"Your post history is suspect."

Suspect; to have an idea or impression of the existence, presence, or truth of (something) without certain proof.

Paranoia; a mental condition characterized by delusions of persecution, unwarranted jealousy, or exaggerated self-importance, typically elaborated into an organized system.

If you can't bother to learn the difference then please stop engaging in a conversation with me. It vexes me.

You're infamous for be banned from RSI forums for hacking their system to buy a Javelin Destroyer. Yeah, you're "that guy." You have a lot of money invested in this game. So any slight against it goes beyond simple emotional attachment. It's a side business on the gray market.

@NasWulf - You're right. It never gets old, just like how 95% of your posts are Star Citizen White Knight shenanigans, and you registered October 2015 specifically to defend SC against The Escapist on-slaught. Blues News is never going to be Star Citizen's third column. Don't come to this site to try and make it so.
