Why? Is that a "there's no way it will be good enough to waste my time on it" statement or a "I've followed the development of this too closely to play it unless it's the best game ever made" kind of statement?
Often I see people turned off of games they followed closely, because they followed closely. Personally, the best course seems to be just not following development closely.
Your tastes change, and so does your situation. 5 years ago, I loved playing RTS games and long, deep RPGs. Now I barely play either. I prefer shorter, simpler stuff. I know the Witcher 3 is perhaps the best RPG ever made, and right up my alley, but I haven't picked it up because I don't see myself with either the time or motivation to play it.
