Kerbal Space Program Team Turnover; Patch Next Week

Kerbal Space Program website has details on future plans for Kerbal Space Program. This includes a patch coming next week to update the space flight simulation to version 1.2. This also explains they are bringing in new talent to support the game, following a reddit post from the original developers explaining they are now leaving the project (thanks Kotaku via nin). They say version 1.2 will be "amazing," and offer the following outlook on the future:

This is by far the best update we’ve developed and you, the community, have been an essential part of it. We can’t thank you enough for helping us with your feedback, your bug hunting and, of course, your support. You are the real heroes of Kerbal Space Program!

We also want to thank our fantastic team of professionals, whose hard work, dedication and passion made this possible!

But this is not all! Here at Squad we’re looking into the future and we have great and ambitious plans for the KSP franchise and even more!

If you’ve been following us closely, you must be aware that we’re growing and we’ve been looking for talent and great collaborators that help us build the next milestone of this franchise. New talents have enrolled in the past few months and they are just as excited as we are. Bringing new talents is allowing us to bring fresh ideas to the plate and we can’t be more excited for what’s coming

There’s an important amount of new content, besides this new update, that we’re currently working on. This includes more free updates, full expansion packs with an incredible amount of new content and much more!

We’re also experimenting with new technologies and platforms to expand the KSP experience towards new horizons.

Furthermore we want to participate in more industry events, because we want to have a closer relationship with our fans. We’ve already participated in Gamescon, Tokyo Game Show and Twitchcon and we’ve met amazing people who have given us lots of insight and ideas. We’re hearing you and we’ll not disappoint you!

I heard they all quit because despite KSP being one of the most successful indie games of recent years, the dev teams salaries are actually lower than most programming *interns* in mexico, and the parent company (just a regular advertising firm, weirdly) won't give them a raise. Millions in pure profits for the bosses, pittance for the workers. Can't say I blame them, if that's true.

I've been playing ksp since ver.22 and im still not tired of it. Money well spent.

I can't play without realism overhaul these days. One thing that gets me is sometimes I feel like getting all the mods I want to run is a game in of itself....but once you get your view in orbit its all worth it.

Right now im doing a manned europa mission...good thing there isn't a radiation mod...or is there?

Are the wheels seriously still not fixed? They completely broke airplanes with the 1.1 wheels update and that was months ago...

Still not fixed and it breaks rovers, too, which makes colonization of any of the planets damn near impossible. Though I did design a RCS powered jump buggy with landing skids that seems to work all right on the planets with lighter gravity. Still, that's a hackjob workaround.

Console version Is very rough as well

I've not heard a single positive thing about that version. Sounds like a train wreck...

Big hopes for this update. I used to believe this was the greatest piece of software in history, but the 1.0 and later releases have had some nasty issues which prevent me from recommending it without reservation. Console version Is very rough as well, lacking the optimisation, UI rework and polish of my other favourite EA turned console game Prison Architect which is a massive wasted opportunity, this thing should have been the next, smarter minecraft.

At least 5 of my 10 greatest gaming moments of all time happened in this game and I will definitely jump in once my (mostly cosmetic) mods update. Big love to all the previous devs and best of luck to the newcomers.

Fix the fucking wheels! All but three of the landing gear and rover wheels act like the ground, any ground, is made of smooth glass and the tires out of teflon infused KY.
