It's all about chasing away the homeless. They're the "unsavory" element using the kiosks.
There's a supermarket near my home that has a small Starbucks in it. Several of the homeless used to congregate in there daily surfing the net all day on their netbooks to get out of heat. Before this was a common occurrence, the cafe was full of people. Afterward, no one would stay. It was driving away customers.
The solution? Disable the wall sockets. Turns out, the homeless folks' netbooks had only an hour or so of battery life. Once the outlets were gone, so were the homeless.
'I am' is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that 'I do' is the longest sentence? - GC
