GeForce Experience 3.0 Released

The GeForce website announces the release of GeForce Experience 3.0. NVIDIA says this new version of the companion software for their graphics cards is "rebuilt from the ground up." This is good news, as the previous version was somewhat bloated and clunky. They directly address this by claiming the new version is three times faster while consuming 50% less memory. This trailer provides an overview, saying this software is "your gateway to great PC gaming."

Well said, HorrorScope Allthumbsup

There's plenty I don't like about online software (I've uninstalled this), licensing, DRM, and server shutdowns but the internet is a pretty big deal these days. This is the commercial reality because most people disagree with you guys (Suppa7 and CJ_Parker), get over it and get over yourselves. Neither of you are the pillars of wisdom you think you are.

You'd be slightly more persuasive if you didn't throw insults at people for having different opinions to you. Not much, since you're basically yelling at a calendar because it's not 1998 any more, but maybe in future.

Suppa is completely right. Everyone who is using Steam has in fact already proven that they are willing to "take it up the ass" in all sorts of ways.

Gamers really struggle with all of this, I get the point, but that simply isn't the world we live in. Being capitalism, if not Steam, if not Nvdia, MS, Origin, Apple, NSA, it would have been someone else, because they see opportunity in doing these things.

The world is connected, if for some reason they have it in for you to connect all the dots to hold against you in a court of law for some reason, the only answer I have for you is to get off the grid. Say bye bye to modern electronics.

You can argue a losing cause, that is what is happening. Do you think we keep a score over here to see how smart each one of us are when we make yet another stand against these electronic atrocities? I'm going with no. You are winning nothing and fighting a losing cause. You want capitalism, but you argue for socialism, communism and koombaya.

So nvidia wants me to be connected, well nvidia get in line with your unoriginal idea.

Look at what he responded to which was an insinuation that nVidia might lock people out of their games. Well, Valve already does that daily when they rightfully (or maybe sometimes not?) ban Steam accounts.

Steam also requires an account and they track the living shit out of people even if you have opted out of the hardware survey. Steam tracks which games you play, when you play, who plays your games (family sharing), how much you play, how often you play, they track your wishlists, your preferences, your store browsing history, they use invisible pixels to track your every mouse movement and keyboard entries on the store pages, they track your friends list, your associated accounts (Facebook, Google, YT if you have entered them) and so on and so on and so on...

So, yeah, it is indeed pretty fucking retarded and hypocritical of someone who uses Steam (or Origin, uPlay, B.net... whatever) to complain about GFE registration.

^ says Mr. C.J. Parker who uses both Steam and the new GFE with registration but who chooses to not embarrass himself by displaying his ignorance.

You might want to take your own advice. Kajetan gave clear, rational points while you continued with sweeping generalizations and strawmen.

Believe it or not, not everyone who disagrees with you is "fucking retarded".

By throwing everything together you create no argument, but a steaming pile of ...

The connectivity to other players is essential for an MMO. There is no MMO without connectivity, the connectivity creates the MMO.

Steam offers much added value to soften it's weak DRM. Still, i dont buy full price, only low sale prices.

Origin and uPlay do NOT offer more or better value than Steam, so both clients are getting well deserved flak. They are useless.

Mandatory accounts for Geforce experience do offer what to players? Gifts and raffles? Colored glass shards and booze? Blankets with smallpox?

You've just proved my point your arguments are not logical at all, see: Private wow servers. Steam paved the way for always online in starcraft 2 and diablo 3. Also the acceptance of loss of dedicated server software because the average gamer is so fucking retarded and can't reason rationally. Steam taught companies to use PR and cover DRM and removal of gamers rights while spinning it as "adding value". Your post shows the success of corporate propaganda.

When there's not much of a competition, Nvidia can pull shit like this.
I did like Shadowplay, but it looks like it is time to switch back to Fraps again.

Mandatory login? Wtf? I just use it to mass-optimize settings. I defended the previous version of the software but this crosses a line. Hey Nvidia, go fornicate with a rusty pipe.

Same here. Awesome!

EDIT: I downloaded and installed it manually, it is working now. Including the PLEASE REGISTER OR ELSE part... Great experience, nvidia. Good hardware, wonky software, horrible customer treatment.

OBS NVEnc to the rescue https://obsproject.com

I've tried OBS a couple times, but I just cannot get a good, consistent quality. Either it's choppier than hell, or I get audio with no video. Probably has something to do with my not-so-great system, but I'll probably try it again.
Been using plays.tv (R9 270X here), and I get better results, but still has some choppiness.

With this, nVidia is now forcing us to log into their mothership server before we can record our gameplay. What's next? We need to authenticate with them before we can play our games so they can lock us out at their whim even though we bought their card? There are people reporting not getting registration confirmation e-mails for hours. People are livid with nV. Forget using shadowplay offline!

Woah, I need confirmation on this. You can't use Shadowplay offline? That would be a killer for me. Holding off till I hear more.

Confirmed.

I tried logging out and using the program and it will not proceed past the login page.

Disabling the ethernet adapter on my pc and then relaunching the program resulted in the message "GeForce Experience requires an active internet connection to function".

This wasn't necessary in the Beta version, I wonder why the switch?

If you log in to the new GeForce experience, there is a feedback button in the bottom-right corner. Report the issue there so they will hopefully address it.

Copy/paste my feedback to them in there if you want:

"I cannot use shadowplay or any geforce experience features without logging in, and I do not always have/use an internet connection when I'm playing games, thus making the shadowplay feature of my card (a specific reason I bought a Nvidia card) inaccessible at times, although it should always be available.

I wish to use my card with the features advertised when I purchased it. It was never specified that I would need to have an active internet connection to use the features I paid for with my Nvidia GPU."

You actually need a Nvidia account, Google or Facebook login to use Geforce Experience. A login is mandatory. If you do not register one of these accounts with Geforce Experience, you CANNOT use its features.

I just uninstalled this piece of crap.
