Battlefield 1 Open Beta

After a brief early access for Battlefield Insiders, the Battlefield 1 open beta is now available for everyone through Origin. This previous announcement has details on testing the World War I shooter. Here's word:
The Battlefield 1 Open Beta will include the Sinai Desert map, a scorching hot battlefield located just East of El-Jifar. From infantry skirmishes in the narrow streets of the village of Bir el Mazar to dogfights above the majestic cliffs, you’ll need to make tactical use of the dunes as you engage in explosive battles. When all hope is lost, reinforcements will arrive in the shape of a powerful Behemoth: a deadly Armored Train charging through the desert sands.

Two modes will be available as well:

  • Conquest. An all-time fan favorite of Battlefield players, Conquest is a large-scale game mode with up to 64 players fighting for the control of key objectives. With large armies on foot or behind the wheel and the addition of fearsome Behemoths, Conquest brings together all the elements of the signature Battlefield All-Out War.
  • Rush. A 24-player mode where the Attacking force must find and destroy the Defending force's Telegraph Posts, which can be used to call in artillery strikes. The Defenders can deny the Attackers their mission by disarming explosives they plant on the telegraph positions. Should the Telegraph Posts be destroyed, the Defenders must fall back to the next sector and protect the Telegraph Posts there.

Get your Squad ready to deploy, because on August 31, you're going to experience war on an epic scale in Battlefield 1.

The early access game seems to run as well or slightly better than the beta for me using the highest 4k settings. I noticed the longer I play on a server the worse the experience becomes. I would recommend dropping out and rejoining every two or so hours of play. My PC is rated at 7.8 due to my CPU being the lowest rated item in the system by the Windows Experience Index of Windows 7. I have an older PC with specs as follows.

CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
RAM - 16 GB
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
SSD - 477 GB

No regrets so far the game and the maps are great. Having a blast!

I have to say that it looks and plays bloody horrible. I've played all classes and been in all the vehicles, never have I been so bored. The gameplay reminds me of that terrible Starwars Battlefront game and for me they've just re-skinned it into BF1 an added a few extra's.

What I would like is for Dice to give us a map editor for Bad Company 2, then we can have a proper fights without vehicles, but they wont do that.

Shitty beta.

Not only is EA/Origin offline but WTF is this shit:

- You can not map your thumb mouse button to reload? Seriously EA/DICE? In 2016 you fuckers are not supporting more than three mouse buttons, even though every other game in your same shitty franchise does, so I have to assume you were simply too fucking retarded to copy&paste your own shitty console garbage crap code?

Before you go full tard, I suggest revisiting your drivers for the mouse, I'm able to rebind reload to Mouse 4/5 without issue on 2 different mice (Logitech/Razer).

My razer (naga hex) cannot bind mouse3/4 in any battlefield including this one, need to use Synapse. All drivers up to date.

***FIX FOR NVIDIA USERS GETTING GRID-LIKE PATTERN IN GROUND TEXTURES***

This is the first game I've ever seen this happen with, but BF1 does not jive with "High Quality" texture filtering settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. It creates this grid-like pattern along the ground. Only known fix right now is to set texture filtering to default (Quality) in the NV control panel.

I was shocked that it ran on my woefully outdated system. i7 3GHz, 12gigs of RAM, GeForce 460 GTX 4GB... and well... it ran, well even.

The game is pretty fun but the tank respawn rate seems way too high for my taste.

I'd hardly call that outdated...

Core i5 going on 6 years old, GTX 670, 8 GB RAM, and it runs fine for me as well.

The 460 GTX was a great buy when I got it, but it is well below the minimum specs for the game, I really expected it to run poorly.

It was nice to be on a team with someone, but still think it is a Battlefront skin. Not a fan of either. I'll go back to 3,4,HL.

Bummer, cause I love the era.

You are waaaaay too serious about BF Slick. I rarely play it to "win" these days (the team that is). I just play it survive, being the best rambo, and annoying people behind enemy lines (tnt, mines, boom booms on vehicles).

There's very few things in the world that gets my dick harder than a new Battlefield. I hit Rank 50 about an hour ago. I went 40-1 as my best round, with many 30+ and 1 rounds. That light tank, whoa nelly!

Also this.

CHECK IT OUT!

looks like they've stopped attacking the BF servers, so the current (last 10 minutes) outage is probably EA doing an actual server restart.

well it was half-working for the last hour, i finally got into a match after seeing the server browser showing that all servers had a queue of up to 99 players on each one. I unlocked the flame tank (after you click the vehicles icon (reserves your vehicle, you don't have to be quick after that), you can hit customize, there's several loadouts for each tank, haven't tried it with planes yet, or even horses. You can change the armor loadout, and the gun you start with.

Anyways, it just went down again 10 minutes ago. probably a server restart on purpose.

OH! Also i discovered that you can control the 3rd person chase cam on vehicles! Your view isn't locked to the forward position! Huzzah! It only seems to move on a horizontal axis, but that's good enough for me. Bout time!

I use the browser back thumb button for reload in all games and it mapped fine for me in the options in BF1. Just make sure you're mapping it under the mouse column in the middle and not keyboard or joystick, and it works fine.

Havent been able to play yet, as immediately after I finished setting up my controls/options, it said I was no longer connected to the EA servers.

Thousands of hours in BF games.

I am drunk, and I am home.

Then maybe put a couple hours into figuring out the new game mechanics and get into a good squad that can take objectives. I'll squad up with you if you want. I'm not drunk yet, but I'm good company.
