Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Patched

The first patch for the Windows edition of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is now available. This should fix crashes and "critical issues" some users have experienced. Square Enix explains this should be an improvement for all users, but the previous version is still offered as a beta if you want to revert. The details also discusses performance using the game's most demanding settings:
The following fixes are in this patch:

  • Fixed crashes caused by third-party programs interfering with the game.
  • Fixed crash that occurred after viewing the intro videos.
  • Fixed issue that could cause a crash at the end of the Prague intro scene.
  • Fixed mouse invert setting not being displayed correctly in the options menu.

Note about performance
We are seeing people reporting performance issues when playing the game on Very High/Ultra settings with MSAA set to 2x, 4x, or 8x. We would like to emphasize again that these options are very demanding.

We recommend everyone that is running at recommended spec or higher to start with the High Preset and MSAA turned off, and then tweak the options to optimize your experience.

While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version we have made a Beta available on Steam, v1.0_build 524.6, that can be used to switch back to the previous version.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

I was one of those who hit a snag with the end of the Prague scene. The worst part is is that the save point is set to the prelog mission so you have to do the final battle in Dubai and then sit through a long and mostly boring video which is unskippable to see if their suggestions worked.

Fortunately, I just had to put my client in windowed mode and it squeaked by.

Glad to see they are on the ball with the patches. Hope they will add the skippable option to those unskippable videos at the beginning of the game with all the company logos and stuff.
I know there's a workaround to skip them but they aren't annoying me enough to actually bother with the workaround just yet.

Game is getting hammered on Steam. Mostly not due to the gameplay itself, but the business practices of the publisher. Charging for DLC that will most probably complete the game (the game ends abruptly), a store with microtransactions, horrible performance issues, bugged mouse acceleration etc. that sort of thing.

Im kind of glad I had trouble preordering, as it seems that the game needs more time in the oven.

Maybe it's better to wait for the inevitable Director's Cut edition, or whatever they are going to call it.

Yet another example of a AAA game which people shouldn't have preordered. You would think Deus Ex would be a safe game to preorder, but I guess nothing is these days. It's kind of funny how many people don't learn any lesson from the many terrible releases of AAA games in the past few years (especially on the PC).

Damn, hadn't heard about any of that. The "rest of the story" DLC thing is worrisome. If the game sells well anyway, it'll just be the first game to pull that shit, and a ton will follow. Very few publishers are interested in putting out truly worthwhile DLC, especially single-player DLC. There's the obvious "but the Witcher 3 has that!", but W3 is the exception to the rules pretty much across the board.

Microtransactions? Pathetic! Flamethrower
The worst criminal in human history, undeniably. There has never been a figure in political history, so dedicated to destroying the prospects of organized human life on the planet, in the near future.

Posted a thread on it last night. The fact that many of the items from the season pass are "one use only" and it's not spelt out as such is deceptive/misleading advertising in quite a few places. They're likely going to have a serious problem with it in the near future.

Hahaha unskippable intro, microtransactions, a chopped to bits story... it keeps getting better and better. Originally I thought I might get the GOTY for $4.99 on sale but looks like $2.99 is going to have to do. Or maybe for the first time in a long time I'll just pirate this shit. Haven't done that in years so might be fun just for shits and giggles.

Why is the Witcher 3 an exception? You say that as if it shouldn't be compared or used as an example in this and other instances.

Deus Ex, which has been going for longer, has at least as much of a fanbase etc. I see no problem with people going "but Witcher 3..." if they feel it's an example of how to better do things. Even if it is a rare and exceptional example it shows such things can be done while being a great success including financially. It even does that without DRM, while Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has the overboard Denuvo (which has been cracked 4 time, the last of which happened pretty quickly).

If you consider some game to be such a good/exceptional example, then use it, rub it in the face of other releases who disappoint or fail to deliver. Instead of trying to oddly exclude something from comparisons or examples because you think it's so good(?) use it as a stick of shame and slap Deus Ex/whoever in the face as if it were a big floppy fish.

Season pass items != preorder items.

I don't think anyone knows if the season pass items are one use only items or not.

Read the thread, a CM(from Square I believe) posted that they're "one time use, one save only" items.

People are reporting the same problem with the season pass bonuses. Again in either case it's still false/misleading advertising.

None of these issues are real dealbreakers, except for the two story DLC (not my words, right from the marketing blurb) packs coming in late 2016 and early 2017 respectively.

If they are indeed somehow related to the main story, and give a more satisfying conclusion to it, then that's a serious precedent in single player gaming.

No, I'm just puzzled why you'd think anyone gives a fuck what cj parker thinks a game is worth. Did you think it added to the thread in some way? That people were eagerly waiting to hear cj parker's approximate worth of a given item? Or what cj parker thought at all?

It would be different if cj parker actually made a reasonable post, but instead cj parker just wipes cj parker shit everywhere and thinks it's amazing. "LOOK GUISE SHIT POSTHAHAHA!" Except we've seen cj parker do this hundreds or even thousands of times before. It's not interesting or noteworthy. It's not funny or entertaining. It has zero value.

Non-related, but I need to know. How is ghosting defined in this game? If you perform a non-lethal takedown without being seen, are you still ghosting? Also, you get rewards for non-lethal takedows without being seen, but are you MISSING rewards if you complete a mission if you don't even touch anyone? I mean without takedowns and without being seen?

Hey, look, Bob tripped and fell and knocked himself out. Hey, over there, Louis also tripped and fell and knocked himself out. Weird, the entire squad, all 20 guards in this warehouse, seem to have tripped and knocked themselves out. And misplaced their wallets. And all the ammo in the warehouse is gone. So weird. We must be haunted!
