Out of the Blue

It's acknowledged that the Marvel comics movies are generally superior to their DC counterparts. This is true, though I hope that doesn't ignore the credit DC deserves for its animations. I haven't seen all the cartoons from either company, but to my experience DC wins here. For years I hoped for a proper movie adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. Turns out I didn't notice when one came out a few years ago as a cartoon. I just caught a good chunk of this, and it does fantastic justice to the source material. I realize they could not have done as well with a live movie, nor would it be as authentic. I no longer desire any further adaptation for this, the animated version is perfect.

I came late, just like Steam (2011) and have only known about key sites for about the last year, if you were asking me. So you guys know much more about this and hopefully I'll get corrected if I'm wrong.

I've spoken out against publisher abuse for years and been a strong advocate for developers. At least on the surface this seems like the same debate we had with the record industry overpricing and sites like napster. I've noticed since the death of Flash sales, these key sites seem to have the sales missing. In reality, the 5 year old game I linked was on sale for about $4.50 which is about what normal pricing would have put it at after that many years, on a Flash Sale.

Now I'm not saying there's not people taking advantage of an new unregulated industry but that happens all the time. Nor do I know the percentage of bad apples. However, the US population being forced into Globalization just like every other country. I see it as most reasonable that these are games bought up in mass quantity in 2nd and 3rd world countries then sold on the global market.

This has been happening for years with m$ selling windows for a few dollars if not giving it away for 'FREE' just to get a market share. Not only that, I also believe there is a ratio of pro-profit per shared games. While I don't know the actual ratio a good example in relation to Forum activity; for every 5 shared games, there is one legit sale. In a global market that could be very significant.

Anyway, nothing scientific but just my uneducated opinion, on what I believe I see and what makes the most sense atm.

Opps, what happened, are G2A links not allowed, I've seen other post them in the past?

I've tried to avoid linking that place for some time. Some may disagree, but they seem to be facilitating a pretty dark gray market that's not good for the game industry. I'm open to other points of view on this, but that's why I deleted those posts.

The trillions of dollars is not over decades, it is for one year. This is impossible even for vast US spending. They count it by one group misstating budgets and passing the same fraud down the line and the next group repeats it. It is the same set of "mistakes" repeated over and over.

Still, tens of billions bloating to trillions emphasizes how many holes, or chances for detection there are nobody is detecting or fixing.

Oh yeah, and Marvel films most certainly are not better. Not by a long shot. They may be more popular, but fake wrestling is immensely popular too. The Bats and Supes films are more akin to comicbook movies whereas all the Avengers and Xmen stuff are more like theme park rides.

“Where is the money going? Nobody knows,” said Franklin Spinney, a retired military analyst for the Pentagon and critic of Defense Department planning.

The significance of the accounting problem goes beyond mere concern for balancing books, Spinney said. Both presidential candidates have called for increasing defense spending amid current global tension.

That sort of bullshit right there would be my number one reason for not wanting to live in the US. $600 billion a year and the politicians want to give their pals in the MIC even more money? And yet reign that in even 1 dollar and try and spend something sensible - e.g. healthcare, education, infrastructure, etc. - and the right-wing nutjobs scream 'Bloody socialism!' yet having exactly zero problem with the "socialist" spending on the military.

Mafia II, Why has the price gone UP on Steam?? I bought that years ago, I want to say directly through Steam, for like 5-6 bucks. Odd. Then again, Deadpool also went back up in price, and probably more than a few other games.

Re: US Army fudged its accounts by trillions of dollars...

That should come as no surprise to anyone, trillions of dollars being thrown at the Defense Department with zero oversight.

Having never seen any of the animated DC stuff, ever, and only vaguely remembering the X-men animated thing, I recently watched "The Killing Joke" because I had a few friends that were absolutely spazzing over it.

I...didn't get the hype. It was OK but the backstory of the evolution of the Joker was weak sauce. Hamill does a fine Joker, however. The story itself was a big old sack of "meh" to me.

I think that the batman cartoons have always been some of the highest quality comic adaptations, going back to the 90's series (can't remember the exact series name) #MARKHAMILLISMYJOKER

IMHO DC does all the animated shows really well. I rarely am ever disappointed in what I have seen and I think I have seen most of them. Same cannot be said about the movies.

Agreed, I liked Justice League, and even young justice was decent. Of course when I was a kid the Batman cartoon in the 90s were the shit. I liked the X-Men cartoons back then too but FOX, or at least the local affiliate, constantly screwed up airing it. I'll have to check out the DKRs series.
