Metal Gear Survive Announced

Konami announces Metal Gear Survive, a new installment in the stealth series coming to Windows and consoles next year. IGN has the details along with a trailer and their own video deconstruction what the trailer shows. Survive will be the first full Metal Gear game made after the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima, and Konami has been unclear as to how much, if any, of the original Kojima Productions team will be working on the game. Series creator Hideo Kojima quite famously left Konami after the last game, and they say it's not clear if any of the Kojima Productions team are participating in development. Here's word:
Set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières not killed in that game’s finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where they’re forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies and, it seems, at least one Metal Gear itself.

“Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements,” said Konami European president, Tomotada Tashiro in a press release, “but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multiplayer experience.”

I got a bit bored of TPP before the end, but it seems crying out for co-op. Like an awesome arcade version of ARMA, some good tech there.

Absolutely. One person could be marking targets from afar another, covering with a silenced sniper rifle, and another person sneaking in....with a box

It'd be really fun.

I love you so much right now eRe4s3r! Heh. MGSV and Dragon's Dogma are two of my most beloved games, having 220 hours into MGSV and 240 into Dragon's Dogma. Not to mention FF13-2, which I know you and I both love. Excellent taste!

Right, but that doesn't say who's idea it is, his or the studios.

It's flattering to be asked, it's narcissistic if you're the one with creative control. I don't suppose his ego minds but neither would mine so I can't criticise. If he ever put himself in his comics, that would be bad.

Everything Tarantino has done since and including Kill Bill has had a sense of smug self satisfaction that makes his work almost unwatchable to me. 20 minutes of Christoph Waltz hunting Jewish refugees is the only stuff he's done in nearly 20 years that matches his apparent opinion of himself.

Edit: eRe4s3r, I wish it was, then I would have saved my money! Ground Zeroes was excellent IMHO, MGS5 was not. Konami takes most blame for that I think.

If this plays like exactly MGSV but with co-op and zombies. I'm in (for the coop, not so much the zombies).

MGSV is a fantastic game. Although the first level goes a bit weird.

I don't mind that Kojima isn't involved. Hopefully that means most of the game will be gameplay and not cutscenes.

Agreed on MGSV. I don't understand those who hate on it with all this unfinished nonsense. MGSV is one of the most complete, content-rich games I've ever played. And the story was such perfect Kojima...subverting expectations. I still load up the game several times a week to expand my FOBs and replay some missions just for LOLs.

This new game...trash obviously. Much like Operation Raccoon City or Umbrella Corps. Take a beloved series and make a poor rip-off of L4D. Sad.

I've tried playing Ground Zero/Phantom Pain, do I really need to see Kojima's name 800 times before I finish the game?

Those are the only MGS games I've played and my first exposure to the supposed genius that is Hideo Kojima. Let's say I didn't see what the fuss was about regarding him (*cough*hack*cough*) but I was most struck by what a massive egotist that guy is. His name everywhere and he even put himself in Ground Zeroes.

He is the only reason MGS5 wasn't a zombie infested coop shooter though. Well, at least apparently ;p

It's weird that no one calls Stan Lee out for being an egotist and I'm sure he wedges himself into all his movies, Tarantino too maybe?

Terantino is probably the most annoying person in Hollywood but I'm always thirsty for his movies... except Kill Bill. Couldn't stand that shit.

Stan Lee doesn't put himself in *his* movies, that's not as bad. That feels more like the film makers paying tribute to someone they admire.

Tarantino, yes, definitely. Worse than Kojima.

Actually, up until Guardians of the Galaxy, Stan Lee said he would only do cameos for the properties he had a hand in creating as noted below:

"Yet, interestingly enough, Lee used to abide by a rule regarding his cameos, only appearing in properties in which he had a hand in creating. This explained his notable absence from 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and 2013’s The Wolverine. However, that all changed with his cameo in last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which occurred despite his misgivings over not knowing the team. With Civil War, his streak for appearing in every movie made by Marvel Studios will remain intact."

So, he is a bit egotistical if you ask me, but sounds like that is starting to change.

Yes. Yes you do. It's part of the experience. Traditionally, you're supposed to bow towards the screen when it happens.
