Titanfall 2 Testing Skipping PCs

The Titanfall website has details on plans to test Titanfall 2, saying a multiplayer tech test is "around the corner." This will only be on consoles, so Respawn explains why the PC edition is not included. Company cofounder Vince Zampella explains the PC version isn't ready for this yet, but expresses confidence in being ready for launch:
So why not PC?

Two big issues from a development standpoint: hardware variety & “min spec” optimization. We’re still making a lot of tweaks and changes to the renderer, the game, and effects so we haven’t run the game through the hardware compatibility lab yet to detect and handle a large variety of hardware - video cards, CPUs etc. Quite frankly, we aren't ready to deal with that yet, we are still making the game better. We also haven't done enough work to fully support our 'Min Spec' on PC yet. So, currently the PC game isn’t as easy to throw out for testing as the console is, because of the additional variables and configurations that we need to support. Also, because the single player story has some wonderful secrets that we really want to preserve for launch, we also have to worry about leaks. Our wonderfully curious PC players have proven in the past that they will dig out anything they can, and there's a risk that they could spoil some of our single player.

We realize this is a big disappointment for our PC fans, but we feel this allows us to concentrate on the real purpose of the tech test and focus on the server stability and scalability. Rest assured we’re confident in our ability to deliver a great PC experience for launch. We appreciate your understanding, and we look forward to seeing everyone on The Frontier this October.

You guys are overreacting and/or not reading.

They aren't testing the gameplay on PC, for the reasons you're all mentioning: PC has a wide variety of hardware. Their software isn't far enough along optimized for this, so any testing on the PC now wil just give garbage data - it's hard to tell if the gameplay is working when the hardware isn't.

So this test, just for gameplay elements, is for console only, where they know it will work. PC hardware testing will come later in development.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the PC release is delayed to give them extra time to polish it, given that greater QA it requires. As it should be.

Your point is right, too, though. The PC version may be almost there. Almost. But not quite. And having bad performance on the PC during beta will kill you.

It's easier to polish the console for a beta than a PC. While the beta is running, your engineers polish the PC compatibility while your devs tweak gameplay.

This. Complete bullshit explanation by a developer, once again proving how much developers think of their potential gamers/customers, as in we are maybe slightly more intelligent than sea molluscs.

Calm down. This beta has nothing to do with testing. It's advertisting. And you don't put out a buggy trial. It's that simple.

Oh, you figure? /sarcasm

Please enough with the patronising, it's a bullshit statement and that was the point of my post. It has nothing to do with the test and the real reason, which as you said is pure advertising.

This game is 2 months away from release. He did not mention anything about testing on the PC so not sure where you got that from.

If they are not at the stage of testing hardware on the PC where there are a ton more variables than on the consoles at this point, I am wondering if the PC version will be even in playable state at release.

Thankfully Origin has a refund policy, for the sake of anyone that buys this on release day

I think the no testing on the PC has a lot more to do with this:
PC players have proven in the past that they will dig out anything they can, and there's a risk that they could spoil some of our single player

I didn't play the first one, and am interested in this one as it features SP as well. I might have checked out the last one if bot support was better, but I never heard anything positive in that regard (they were there, but not good).

I couldn't care less about this game.
They should just keep it on the consoles all together. Save themselves the trouble of insulting the pc gamers.
I don't know what kind of sales numbers they expect on the PC after comments like these. If this game bomb on the PC they will just blame the pirates or something.

Not like I ever had any intention of ever buying this scheisse, but if I had this alone would have resulted in a lost sale.

After getting a grand total of a week of play out of Titanfall, and now getting further crapped on by Zampella... yeah, I'm with Cutter. There is now less chance than even the previous 0% that I am going to buy this. Thanks for breaking math, Respawn.

I'm afraid I've gone PS4 for TitanFall2 (and Battlefield 1) due to the never ending prevelance of cheat/hacks on the PC when it comes to FPS titles.

EA/Dice really don't seem to give a shit about how hacked their BF titles are on the PC. BF3 was appalling and I resisted BF4 for the first year, then weakened and bought it on the PC, only to find it was just as bad!

Massively regret buying The Division on PC, as the DZ was full of hackers/cheats, and wish I'd bought that on the PS4.

Won't risk TF2 on the PC!

I was interested in this since the original had a lot of potential. But I'll be waiting until well after launch to see how things go on PC before I consider buying now.

Yes, suppose to be more "traditional" campaign rather than the string of multiplayer maps +radio show playing in the background.
