Plot performance vs. value for all these cards and choose where you're comfortable at given what you want to do and how much money you want to spend. It's pretty easy and it's been like this for about as long as GPUs have existed. Maybe but the thing is those who just GOTTA have the fastest card have yet again been buttF now they only have the second best card and it's tearing those appart inside..... |

No, the last one was the "nVidia GeForce GTX TitanX" and this one is the "nVidia TitanX" (note the absence of GeForce and GTX). They are trying to distinguish it from the gaming cards in spite of the absence of FP64. I think it's about keeping an idea of value about this line throughout all generations. It's like owning a Porsche. doesn't matter if it's a 2017 model, or a 2007 model. People generally just see "Porsche". Will probably help people resell those cards in the future. I can just see some craigslist ad: "including TITAN X GPU!!!" looks impressive, could be a 3 year old model, who cares, Porsche! |

Nvidia already has professional graphics workstation cards, they are called Quadro. Actually the Titans are cheap compared to the top of the line Quadro cards. That, and ever since Maxwel Titan X, they haven't been given FP64 acceleration, unlike the prior Titans. So, really, they're not that great at compute tasks, so they're just rich gamer cards now.
I was considering this card before Pascal was released, but seeing its performance (and price) has me backing off a bit. I'd like to see someone overclock it to proper speeds and benchmark that. I'm kind of doubting a 1080 Ti will exist at this point. Did not realize they disabled the fp64 support. Well yeah, ok, so these are now just absurdly overpriced cards for people who enjoy not using what they paid extra for. 12gb of video memory? |

They need to do something with the partially defunct GP-102 cores and the huge gap between the $699 GTX 1080 and the $1200 Titan is just begging to be filled by a $999(FE)/$899(custom) GTX 1080Ti like... maybe in October? |

Well, shit, my 1080 is scheduled to arrive today, guess I should just deny delivery and order something twice as expensive with a 15% gain!

The sort of person who would lease equipment isn't usually the same sort of person who would want to install it.
Also, these cards are not intended as gaming cards. They're of course quite capable at it, but they're intended for other purposes. |
