Gone Gold - Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

This announcement has the short and sweet word that development is complete on the next Deus Ex game, saying, "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is GOLD! We can’t wait for you all to play our game." This makes it sound like the action/RPG sequel is on track for it's most recent release date of August 23rd. The game had previously been expected earlier this year, but it was delayed until next month to better meet fans' lofty expectations.

But how many real life hobo's have you talked to? I imagine a lot of them are surprisingly knowledgeable : )

Oh man, I've talked to quite a few. If they were modeled authentically in a game, admittedly the plot would go to shit, and combat would be triggered by half the dialogue choices.

I remember buying Deus Ex: HR, and talking to an early NPC, which was some sort of hobo woman living near a trash can, who mysteriously had lots of coherent and useful information about the world around me.

Given how I live in a hobo-infested city, that experience was jarringly unrealistic and put me off the game permanently.

Can't tell if serious..? If so, I assume you never played the original DX. It was full of surprisingly well-informed hobos.

Partially kidding, but partially serious. Deus Ex was what, 15 years ago? I've grown weary of lifeless NPC infodumps a long time ago, and it's not my fault that the industry has completely failed to move forward in most directions, except for advancements in UI and graphics detail.

It will be most likely one of the better AAA releases this year, but still... Original DE was released 15 years ago and had a groundbreaking design where you controlled the story through gameplay, had freedom of approach, etc. And all you get after all this time is slightly dumbed down (no leaning)/sexed up (takedowns) version of the original.

Looking forward to this one. The summer drought is about over...

Agreed! Going to be a crazy fall, and this is a killer to start off with...can't wait!

I actually started playing Revolution Director's Cut for the first time just this week. I'm not a real fan of stealth based games but I'm having quite a bit of fun with this one. So yeah, actually looking forward to Mankind Divided. I think I might even finish this by the time Mankind Divided is released.

Are the official specs released yet or are we going to assume the leaked specs are legit?

It looks kinda dumbed down, but there also seems to be a lot more features, so I'm hoping it's just an illusion. The conversation system does look a bit reduced though. I really enjoyed the system of the last one. It was really fluid.

But yeah, we have this and No Man's Sky, then nothing until October... Well, I guess there's Overwatch and WoW: Legion, but...

Does this have "Push button to stick to wall" gameplay?

That ruined the prior one for me, feels so unrealistic. I have no problem ducking behind cover, but I want to manually control it (ducking/leaning), not have a toggle on/off button.

I unbound my "press button to win" and "press button to stick to wall" keys and just played it like normal. Stealth didn't always quite work right that way, but it was more or less playable like the real Deus Ex.
It was painful enough just remembering 'push to win'. Damn you guys for reminding me of the 'stick to the wall', drive that stake right though my tick tock! Winkrazz
