Picked up Crypt of the Necrodancer and LA Noire so far, ultra cheap. CotN indicates I have no rhythm whatsoever, but the game is pretty interesting...old school dungeon crawler, but with music based movement and attacks.

Aside from that, looks like this Steam sale will pretty much go by without me spending a ton on it. Spent more on the Gog summer sale by far.

People say that, but there's no real evidence of that being the case so far.

My wallet and purchase history suggest otherwise. The number of sales over 75% off has dropped dramatically.

Bought ARMA 3 a few days ago, spent most of my time trying to find solutions to fix the framerate(i5 + R9 380). In towns I was never able to go over 25-27 fps( in multiplayer). Ended up asking for a refund.

Wondering what kind of rig all these people playing ARMA have Annoyed

Arma is interesting when it comes to optimizing. I just picked up a 1080 GTX and still can't run the thing fully maxed out on even just 1920x1080 (I usually play 5760x1080). There's some forum posts out there that show which settings help the most. There's also launch parameters that you can adjust for CPU Cores, VRAM usage and some other things that helped me in the past. It's kind of a pain but once you get it right, it should run pretty good. I can finally get close to 60 fps with most of the settings pretty high or max but even before with the 980 GTX, I was getting 40-45 average with things on medium-high. I have a i7 3770k @4.0GHZ and 16GB RAM.

I'm never go to get GTA V at 60%+ off if people keep buying it in droves for these mediocre discounts.

Well Steam sales haven't been that amazing since they dropped the daily specials.

People say that, but there's no real evidence of that being the case so far.

Bought Wolfenstein after enjoying Doom immensely.

Lame port though, I can run Doom up in the 80-90 FPS zone at 1400p with freesync preventing tearing, but Wolf runs super fast with tearing or super janky with vsynch on. Haven't refunded as I really want to dig my teeth into the awesome setting but I'm super pissed off.

Anyone with a 390x or similar work these issues out? Doom was a dog at launch for this card as well but a driver update a little while afterwards made it perfect.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about the tearing and vsync issues. Vsync worked for me, but I'm only running at 1080 60Hz; I've seen some things that suggest high refresh rate monitors may run into more problems with vsync. It's a fun game so you may want to poke around various forums and see how people have or haven't fixed the issue, but if you can't get rid of the issue I certainly can't fault you for refunding it.

Only thing I've bought so far is bioshock 2, I've played the 1st and 3rd installments so figured for $4 might as well play the 2nd.

On another note, actually just finished Wolfenstien: New Order that I bought in last year's summer sale. Stopped playing it back then because something frustrated me, something about the collectable, no idea why cause when I started playing again I had a blast.

I'd strongly suggest having a look at the Misery mod for stalker CoP (I'd suggest the Assault class).

www.miserymod.com
www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-misery

If you like survival and a challenge I'd also suggest giving the Black Road a go. You start off with basically nothing and it's not easy starting but I really enjoyed it and you feel like you've accomplished something when you pull it off. No harm in giving the Black Road a goes to start with, if the start is to hard just restart normally.

I kind of wish I had played Misery before CoP because going into it without knowing what's going on would have been even better. Figuring things out for yourself in such a hostile world.

It may seem harsh at first but once you get the hang of it it's great fun, if you like that kind of thing.

Stalker CoP has some bugs which may or may not happen, so Misery has them too, but if you have any problems you'll be able to find posts with solutions. My only gripe with Misery is the low price for artifacts, though you can edit their value if you really want.

There's also a bunch of "mini" mods for Misery, which may be worth checking out, still great stuff either way.

As for Ark, well, for the first time since I was gifted it several months ago, I decided to give it a try. I joined my friend's private server and he literally had a god damn giant beaver with a saddle on it and I was instantly sold on the game. I'll come back to it later after I finish my new FO4 playthrough and dabble in TWoM/CoP.

Did you lower the settings? Make sure antialiasing was off, etc?

Of course, i did most of my testing at the lowest settings.

To prevent CV-19, avoid the Serious Seven: weddings, funerals, faith-based activities, bars, gyms, house gatherings and other small events.

Grabbed DOOM myself, through the third level so far.. Taking my time and exploring (I NEVER made it under par in the old games, lol) and it's pretty awesome!
