Battleborn Adding Microtransactions [Jun 14, 2016, 7:58 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
The
Battleborn website announces plans to update Battleborn on Thursday
with a patch that introduces a premium currency system and adds
microtransactions to the multiplayer shooter. Gearbox Software stresses that
these will be for cosmetic items only, though the also talk about expanding this
down the road, saying, "we’re also exploring convenient ways players can add
bank spaces, loadouts, or boost their XP and credit earnings that do not affect
actual gameplay." Here's more on the plan:

When we expand the Battleborn Marketplace on June 16th, we’ll be offering premium taunts and skins that will not affect gameplay at all (warning: may make your teammates and opponents incredibly jealous). This optional, cosmetic content we’ve created comes in addition to all the skins and taunts we’ve already put in the game. On top of that, the first five Battleborn DLC Packs will have EVEN MORE skins and taunts that are only unlockable by playing the Story Operations and will not be sold individually in the Marketplace.

Either way, the game doesn't seem to be doing so well in sales so I doubt it will be a huge upset. Everyone and their dog is playing Overwatch anyways.

Overwatch-Lawbreakers-battleborn are all interchangeable in my mind.

This. If I should want to use an XP boost for your game, then that indicates that your gameplay is so boring that I should want to do less of it. And that means your game is just bad. I dunno, maybe I'm too old-school, but I come from playing games like CS:Source and UT2K4 where we played thousands of hours just because it was fun, not because we needed to unlock some stupid shit. I mean, XP and unlocks and shit make sense for progression in a PvE game, but for PvP? No thanks.

Selling XP boosts makes me believe that isn't all of the unlocking you'll be doing.

Battleborn is a competent game, just not worth the asking price in this environment of F2P moba's. It will go F2P within 6 months at which point it will be well worth a look.

Would you expect anything else from Gearbox?
This system is more generous than Overwatch, it's around $3 for a skin. $3 for Overwatch is a few loot boxes which is nothing. Being able to buy individual skins vs. random loot boxes is much more consumer friendly.
Also, you can get plenty of skins and taunts for free in the game.
Also, all new gameplay content for the game is free. New characters, maps, modes and extra content all free.

Bank space isn't necessary, you can already get a lot with just ingame money.
There are no in-game loot items being bought or anything. XP doesn't affect gameplay for anyone but yourself.
