Dead Rising 4 Announced

Capcom Unity has the expected announcement of Dead Rising 4, a new installment in the zombie killing series they say is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this fall. They offer an announce trailer which celebrates the holiday shopping season to show things off. Here's word on the game:

Hey Zombie fans! On behalf of the entire development team at Capcom Vancouver, we’re extremely excited to bring Frank West back to the Dead Rising series in Dead Rising 4.

Frank is back in Willamette, Colorado sixteen years after the events of the original Dead Rising. A mysterious outbreak has overrun the Willamette Memorial Megaplex Mall and surrounding town with deadly predators and Frank soon realizes that what’s dead doesn’t always stay that way.

As Frank seeks to uncover the truth behind the outbreak, he will face new undead enemies, including the Fresh – newly zombified victims that will turn in front of his eyes and exhibit superior speed and ferocity, and the Evo – zombies with superior strength and mobility that mimic the behavior of predatory hunting animals.

Additionally, all of our fan-favorite features return including the ability to combine hundreds of weapons and vehicles to combat the horde ranging from the practical – to the practically insane. Frank will also have access to all-new EXO Suits, giving him super strength and incredible fire power including the ability to rip down part of the world to use as a weapon – from giant pipes to parking meters.

We’re also bringing fans a new approach to multiplayer, allowing you to play together with four friends to complete missions and conquer the zombie infested Willamette Memorial Megaplex, or quick match and join a game in progress with players around the world.

Dead Rising 4 releases this holiday on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Stay tuned for more details this summer on how you and Frank can survive the zombie apocalypse!

Look, we've given MS a TON of shit over the years for their 'support' of PC gaming, but they have just announced three (four?) major AAA titles that would have been exclusives last year, and said they are coming to the PC.

Yes, it's a UWA/UWP (whatever) and only on Windows 10, but they ARE going to be on PC, and I think the "buy once play wherever" thing is also to be applauded as a good measure, especially since it will allow mp crossplay. (more controller peasants to frag!)

So, for my part, good on ya, MS.
Ya might want to check the Evening Consolidation section for today. Keyboard and Mouse support for the Xbone is a few months away (and that does mean in game, not just menu navigation) soooo maybe a few less controller peasants

Xbox 360 and PS3 had M/KB support too. Problem is that no developers will support it because it will put gamepad players at a disadvantage and the vast majority of console players prefer to use gamepads.

With exception of some competitive online FPS buying KBM for X1 is a waste of money, since majority of their games have been designed for and play way better with a gamepad.

The balance is perhaps different for the PC, but not as much as you`d imagine. However I do understand some of the PC Master Racers need to cling on to that ol` trope, so who am I to argue

Windows 10 exclusive is not "coming to PC". It's Windows 10 exclusive, and has only one purpose, getting people to switch to Windows 10. So yeah, fuck that.

While I appreciate that they're releasing the games on PC, the Windows 10/Windows Store requirement is a deal breaker for me. I don't use Windows 10 and even if I did, I really wouldn't want to use the Windows Store. It's even worse than Origin and Uplay. MS is obviously only interested in pushing their latest OS and storefront so it's hard to feel gratitude towards them.

I gotta give that a dismissive wank, Creston!

... that's fair.

I should clarify that the dismissive wank is at MS, and not you, but yeah.

Dead Rising 3 was on Steam so there isn't a reason to freak out yet about the Windows store.

Credit for trying. But I'd say the biggest concern is the "buy once, we fuck up the service on PC and shut it down" precedent. That whole fool me once thing.

Scalebound is also coming to PC, and I can't tell if it's gonna be fun or not. It's being made by Platinum Games, who made the Bayonetta titles, so I expect it'll be completely bonkers.

There was a list of games coming to PC at launch, I think 10 or so total.
