Founders editions on Newegg from Asus and a couple of others. Waiting for the Strix edition from Asus. I like my quiet PC.

I don't teach my kids to say please to routers, canopeners, webservers, TV remotes, dishwashers, etc.

They all do useful work, but... they're not people. And my kids do actually understand that, because they aren't stupid.

Can't read the article here at work, but here's a thought:

Maybe, I dunno, spend some more time with your kids instead of buying a few pieces of technology and expecting those to raise them for you? Or don't buy an Amazon Echo and take 5 seconds to do shit yourself?

It's not about raising your kids or them being lazy. Instead it's about the lack of manners one needs when utilizing Echo. When you ask Alexa to do something you don't have to say 'please' or 'thank you'. It's an AI that works better with concise requests which means the typical niceties aren't typically said.

I've said before that if anyone was that concerned about it, change the trigger phrase from "Alexa" to "Please". It can be done pretty easily.

Hopefully come August or September there'll be a plentiful supply of 3rd party 1070s and enough reviews to make a more informed decision on a particular brand. I have no desire to pay inflated prices or act as a guinea pig.

The typical niceties in question are... kind of dumb.

I'll probably grab one of these when the 3rd party also known as not rip off versions are available.
