No Man's Sky may be delayed, reports
Kotaku,
citing "sources," a reassurance that this is not something they just made up. We
kid, but it sounds like they've heard this from two independent informants,
which adds credibility to word that Hello Games' space game has suffered a
setback from its planned release next month.
They say the game no longer has a set release date, but that "we’re hearing it’s
been bumped until at least July or August." Here's more:
A reliable Kotaku source was the first to inform us of the delay. A second source, who works at GameStop, said they received marketing materials today for No Man’s Sky with the original June 21 release date. However, stores were informed that the release date is no longer correct and that they should cover it up with a “Coming Soon” label
A game full of hype train that has shown us nothing but fly bys and pre staged in game footage and gameplay delayed? GET OUT OF HERE!
Not a real surprise, but I'm still looking forward to buying this for $9.99 or less.

I'd assume early reviewers were saying something along the lines of, 'The tech is neat sure, but where's the actual game?'

What's peoples thoughts on Empyrion? It seems to be an epic scale with a lot more to do, from travel to planets all the way down to fighting in dungeon levels on each, crafting, survival, etc. A game that gets no pub vs another game that for some reason just gets all the pub, hasn't released, hasn't shown a lot to do.
I picked up Empyrion last week but haven't given it a go yet - it looks good and got great reviews.
They lost me at "a reliable Kotaku source"...

It gets no publicity because Early Access survive-n-build games are ALL still in Early Access, no matter how long they've been around. Show me ONE that's made it to a "full release". I'm done buying games that aren't even halfway through development, only for the dev to decide they made their money from me already so why bother doing any more work.
*meh* Don't have a Playstation, not going to get one.
The tech for stuff looks kind of cool, but the overall gameplay doesn't really appeal to me.

I get that, but No Man isn't done yet either, but the point I'm making is there is so much more to do in Empyrion and is on the same planetary level No Man is pimping, not as huge galactically, but lets face that, that is more of an instance/resource trick on their end vs fun game play. You can discover billions of systems to me means yeah we say it's MP, but we want to keep you much more segregated in reality, but shhhh you're not supposed to notice that.
But with Empyrion once on planet there is like 100x more to do, if not infinity!
I guess what I'm saying is that game seems much more promising in terms of fun.

I played Empyrion several months ago with a friend and we got bored really fast because we didn't see anything worth doing. You have no motivation to do things and surviving is really easy. It felt like an empty world with no direction and nothing pushing you to explore. So, basically, it seems to have the faults that people plant on No Man's Sky. BUT, that was months ago, maybe it's better now? We were expecting a space 7 days to die and that's not what we got.
Has it been confirmed No Mans Sky will be devoid of gameplay/story, or is this all based off speculation and humour?

The videos I've seen don't show a lot of story or gameplay, besides flying around. If someone else has others, I'd love to see them...

You make you own adventure sort of game, no story or anything like that. You get thrown into this large sandbox and do whatever you want. Explore, trade, fight etc.

They won't outright say that the game has no content but they haven't really shown any content in the videos that have been released so far either.

I don't know about Steam Early Access, but on XBox Early Access Elite: Dangerous made it to full release. In fact Horizons comes out in a couple of weeks. I think it's still the only one that has so far though.
