New Unreal Tournament Map

Epic Games offers a short teaser trailer and some screenshots to help introduce Underland, a new map for Unreal Tournament, their upcoming shooter remake which is currently available as a free "pre-alpha" release. The clip shows off the new environment, contrasting the violent slow-motion gameplay with the serene strings of Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, which is normally the soundtrack for weddings, and not bloodbaths. This post has more details and a link to the release notes for the new version. Here's word:
Today we released a fully meshed Deathmatch level called Underland with the new Unreal Tournament build. This level is designed for 6 to 8 players who fight across a hidden outpost, once lost for a thousand years, that guards the entrance to the massive Underland caverns.

We asked the community to help rename the prototype level "Tuba" and we'd like to thank forum member Archer6621 for proposing the name Underland. We'll be sending him an Unreal Tournament Swag Bag filled with Epic merchandise for his suggestion!

Making cars as a front! I knew Rocket League was more than it seemed...

Rocket League has DeLoreans?

If not, they should definitely be added!

That is the only reason I bought Rocket League, and the only car I use

Anyone know what the business model is for this product?

If memory serves, people can charge for mods and they will get a cut of that?

I don't know. My GoogleFu has turned up nothing clearly stated. Obviously with UDK and Make Something Unreal they have the option to spawn whole games, but this may be something different for them.

"Since Unreal Tournament is being in part created by a community of volunteers, the game will be completely free when it is released. Epic Games stressed the point that it will be just free not free-to-play, meaning there will be not microtransactions or gameplay-affecting items. To pay for the game, it will eventually create a marketplace where developers, modders, artists, and players can buy and sell mods and content, or just give it away for free.Earnings from this marketplace will be split between the content creator and Epic."

Manufacturing cars as a front for a major drug smuggling ring, as I remember...

Next thing you know they'll bring back the DeLorean or something. <sic>

They started that long ago with leftover parts and I believe someone is going to start on entirely new models soon.

Another reboot. Or is it a throwback this time?

No matter. I'm so glad I lived through and experienced all the originals in their prime.

Next thing you know they'll bring back the DeLorean or something. <sic>
