Actually brought some feels from me! Don't despair, we got indies and Brutal Doom. As for id tech 6 engine(edit: tech 5), it's a turd. Terrible textures and texture popping that can't be solved. Carmack must be ashamed of it. Games made with it are borderline unplayable for me. Not because they run bad on my pc, but because of the texture issues.

Id Tech

Wiki says this is built on the new id Tech 6 engine. Nothing much known about it.
Both Wolfensteins and Dishonored 2 use the id Tech 5 engine, i did not notice much texture popping in either Wolfenstein.

I have The Old Blood, and unfortunately I see texture popping in the distance. So far this has only happened outside, and for objects at a far distance, so it's not that bad. But at the same time, it's still annoying, and I would expect better from iD's tech.

Are you sure about Dishonored 2? Wiki says it "will run on Bethesda's new internal "Void" engine (based on id tech 6), as opposed to Unreal Engine 3 that was previously used in Dishonored".

While I'm not a huge fan of the Unreal Engine, I'd rather they went with Unreal Engine 4 over anything related to id tech. What a shame. It definitely wont be a day 1 buy for me now.

I would trust the Dishonored 2 wiki, as much as one can trust a wiki, over this wiki anyday.

Games using id Tech 5[edit]
Rage (2011) – id Software
Wolfenstein: The New Order (2014) – MachineGames[9]
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (2015) – MachineGames
The Evil Within (2014) – Tango Gameworks[10]
Dishonored 2 (2016) – Arkane Studios

Not a lot of id Tech 5 games out there, but I can't see the horizon.
Probably had a lot to do with the showcase game texture popping and a publishing company lock.
id is requiring companies that use the engine to publish their games through id's sister company, Bethesda Softworks.[5]

The single player looks pretty good. The MP was kinda sad.

Came here for the hate. Was only slightly disappointed.

In any case, will post a review up as soon as the game unlocks. So, next week I guess.

I really want to like it, being obsessed with 1 and 2 back in the day. Also music riffs from original in this trailer give a slight geek boner but after that mp demo shitshow I'll wait for my mates reviews first.

don't think many care about multiplayer, its just a add on, Doom was more about blasting stuff and co-op than multiplayer...

This game still looks like it'll be a lot of fun in single player, and it may actually run on my old ass desktop. Yet another upgrade cycle bypassed!

Multiplayer will hopefully eventually get fixed with mods. It'll be fine, relax.
