Uhh it has always online drm in it. Any game that is chained to a back end server is not a game you own. So yes it is essentially f2p in terms of how the software is constructed, just that you were dumb enough to pay for it.

Damn that Quake 1 DRM! Rabble rabble.

I'd like to present you with this week's Most Confusing Reply Award.

Dude said nothing about DRM, and even if he had, your contention that DRM means a game "is essentially F2P" is nonsensical.

No it isn't, if a game is locked down to a back end server and you don't control it, you don't really control the game, you don't have the game in your hands, one part of the game that is needed for the game to work is taken hostage on the other side of the internet.

A game is just software, f2p games are a category label for just software that is broken into two pieces. Overwatch is a piece of software that is broken into two pieces.

They are the same in terms of the game code being split. To put it in words your little brain will understand: Imagine getting a console game where there are two DVD's but one is missing because the corporations didn't give you the whole game, they kept one DVD to themselves to make sure they control the game and the game code and you need to use your dvd and the login screen to login to their server to access the other parts of the game code.

So no you didn't "buy the game", because you and most gamers are computer illiterate. You bought a game that isn't yours and doesn't run entirely on your computer. You did something stupid.

My little brain understands fully. You're conflating DRM with F2P. You're not letting applicability get in the way of your rant.

Well since you're so inclined to trust random people without playing it I am telling you its fine and those people are wrong

People got all angry because its the internet and they will whine about anything, even understandable beta issues.

That guy you posted sounds like a 15 year old moron who's never played a PC FPS before 2010. Some of the best games were old school PC FPS with no matchmaking, players of all different skill levels, and barely any attempts at team balance. Now that you get a even match, but one dude on your team isn't as good as the others, and HOLY FUCK THIS GAME IS UNPLAYABLE.

Maybe that's because the closed beta has a very small pool of players, so that they'd rather put one bad player on each team instead of making you wait 20 minutes for a match? Also, isn't this the whole point of a beta, so issues like this can be tweaked?

When someone uses hyperbole like "Your matchmaker is garbage. It's beyond garbage. It's hands down the worst matchmaker of any pvp game I've ever played. I honestly don't even understand how it can be so bad" they sound like a giant idiot.

It's ok. Some weird delays but to be expected for a beta, overall very smooth. We went on a pretty successful run though and kept getting matched against twitch streamers but I guess that's the ELO working properly. I don't feel like I'm missing anything here without a server browser if that's what you're getting at.

I've yet to have a positive experience with match making but, Blizzard has the infrastructure to pull it off in an FPS.

Its the same as the Valve CS:GO shop. You can just be satisfied with your random drops, trade with other players, or finally you can pay Blizzard for the aesthetic item you want.
