They definitely did not deliver the Baby Persistent Universe in December that showed they could do what Derek Smart said they couldn't. Being able to start on a station in first person, get in a ship with some friends, or stowaways, in a Constellation Andromeda having one person fly and other people in the turrets.
I know you're trying to be sarcastic but you are indeed 100% correct that they have achieved FUCK ALL in that regard.
I mean you do realize that everyone (about 30 players max atm) is in one single instance, right?
What Derek Smart (and others, of course... like anyone with a basic level of a clue) has said is not possible is a multi-instance system with the ~80 to 100 players per instance CIG was shooting for with the full advertised "fidelity" and the full feature set. He (and others) never said that a single instance demo would be impossible. Get a freakin' clue.
The current state of the game is a minuscule tiny fraction of the full feature set (and "fidelity"), no multi-instancing, no instance transitions (you know... the hard part of making a MMO... any idiot can make a single instance tech demo like the current "baby PU"), and a player count far, far below the original target.
And as you will know, they are having massive desync issues right now and have been massively struggling with getting more players into that single instance. To call the current state of affairs "sad" would be an understatement.
You know what will happen if they introduce the multi-instancing, transitions and if they add more complex gameplay systems and "fiiidddeliteeeehhhh" for da "immeeerrrssshhhuuunn" on top of it all? Yup. Buh-bye, Shtar Shitizen.
Train -> Wreck -> Keep watching.
