RDR2 Map Leaked?

A NeoGAF thread shows a map allegedly from Red Dead Redemption 2, a sequel to Rockstar's western shooter. Development of RDR2 has not been confirmed, and this leak sparks speculation that it will be announced at E3, though there is also speculation that this is just a fake, so there's that possibility to contend with. Since the game has not been confirmed, we certainly don't know if it is destined for the PC, as the original has never been ported to the platform, in spite of several unconfirmed rumors (the theme of this post) that it would be. God, I hope so. I'm even hoping that Rockstar will go "Pre-order RDR2, and we'll throw in the RDR-HD remake for free!"

I will pre-order so fast, it will literally break the space-time continuum.

I actually loved the game. Though I was never a console player, when Sony had their PS3 cracked, I got the console. I did think "yay, lots of interesting games to play on my 1080p TV for free".

There indeed were many games, none were 1080p and mostly it was "meh" for me. As a fully fledged PC gamer I did not really like em. But RDR was different. I actually enjoyed hunting. It was the first thing I did in the game, hunting deer, even shot down an eagle (pure luck).

It was a challenge for me and initially I did wonder how other people made it look so easy.

Then I found the auto-aim button.

Coming from PC background I did not expect it. So yeah the game was hard and fun for the first hour or so

I also hope RDR2 will have a proper PC port, but it's RDR, we might get it 5 years after initial release.
I did the same thing but got my PS3 probably after you, as I was too late to benefit from the free games offered after the hack. I did and still do take advantage of the PS Plus games but those are given through a paid service.

Anyway, you missed out on lots of interesting games on the PS3, including my favorite series Ratchet and Clank.

I loved RDR and would definitely enjoy a sequel. This time around I would be surprised to not see it on PC since the PS4/XBone architecture makes multiplatform releases much easier. I also think a HD port of RDR to PS4/PC/XBone may be coming, although that's less certain than RDR2 itself. If they're porting RDR1 to PS4/XBone though, there is no reason not to also include PC. I don't think some vast conspiracy kept RDR1 from going to PC before now, I think it was just not something they spent the time and money to do. Maybe they thought the PC market for it was weak, crazy as that sounds.

Rockstar can shove their console garbage straight up their dumb asses. I do not give a single fuck until they start treating PC gamers with a minimum of respect which would entail porting RDR to PC and stopping to sign ludicrous exclusivity deals while then "teasing" PC gamers about the possibilities of a PC port (the way they treated PC gamers with regard to GTA V was among the most disrespectful asshole dick moves in recent history only topped by what Microsoft pulls off on a regular basis). Fuck them all. Not spending a single cent on that console garbage.
I love comments like this, you're essentially saying that you would rather sit on your high horse versus playing an enjoyable game. That'd be like a console player saying that Freespace and Tie Fighter aren't worth playing because they aren't on consoles. Instead, the right answer is that they're all enjoyable experiences if you have the platform to support it.

Zactly. I am sure they had no clue how popular it was going to be, so coded the game as though it would never be ported. There has to be some massive barriers in the way for them to have never ported the damn thing......or they have been working on RDR2 for some time....

Yeah, it'd just be hard to fit the potential "be good/be evil" playstyle in such a story, when you know that Marston was an Outlaw to the core.

On the flipside, maybe this will mean that they'll finally make playing an Outlaw actually worthwhile, unlike in the first RDR...

One of my fav games ever was RDR. One of the few games I sat through till completion as well.

One can hope for a PC port of it. If not I will not buy a console just to play it.

First off Rockstar NEVER said there was going to be a PC Port. They said repeatedly that it was possible but more then likely not going to happen.

And as for the PC "port" of GTA 5, yeah we waited longer then the 360/PS3, but the PC version is still head and shoulders better then the Xbone and PS4 versions. I could understand your hatred if you actually had any factual information.

As for getting into RDR, you need to get past the medicine man's intro mission's and that's where the game REALLY picks up.
And as Creston said John Marston was an amazing character and I hope they do a prequel.

I have RDR for the PS3 here....never fired it up. I realize that's apparently some sort of cardinal gaming sin, but out of the marketing material or videos I've watched, or watching a co-worker play it for about half an hour...I've felt no urge to play it.

It's in my top five games of all time. Please don't let the first hour or so turn you off of it, it is an incredible game.

Rockstar did an AMA at reddit and answered the question "What are you guys working on right now" with

Really, Dumbass, Really? Two.

I'd say it's fairly safe to say they are actually working on RDR2.

I absolutely loved RDR, but a HUGE portion of that game was John Marston. I hope they write another character as fantastic as he was, and find another voice actor as awesome as John Wiethoff.

Here is a really cool article about what happened to him.

Loved Redemption, probably the only reason I haven't given away my 360 as I still play it a bit every few months.

Would really like to see it on PC, but if not and it's done "right" like I believe the last one was, it'd probably push me into buying a new console.

This is from an interview with Dan Houser, speaking of their business strategy after founding Rockstar and entering the US market:

From the start our aim was twofold - to make games that we wouldn’t be embarrassed to be caught playing ourselves and to expand the experience of playing those games by making them less limited and more engaging with the production values of movies.

And so you made games in which you could fuck hookers. Not embarrassing at all. Nope.
