Star Wars Battlefront Content Plans

EA's Star Wars website has details on content coming this spring to Star Wars Battlefront, including a new expansion as well as free content. Here's word:
We are always listening to community feedback and working to improve the game, and are very excited about what’s to come. In the next few months all players can look forward to free* additions like:

  • New In-Game Events - more double score weekends, community missions and Special Login Events are coming for players to earn more experience, credits and items.
  • New Hutt Contracts - Unlock powerful Star Cards like the Berserker Trait, Bacta Bomb and Ion Neutralizer.
  • More New Content - We also have a couple of surprises in store that we know our fans have been looking for, especially those who have been clamoring for ways to have more options to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront offline. More to come soon.
  • Specific for May the 4th - In celebration of Star Wars™ Day we have cool activities planned that we’ll announce soon.

This June, Season Pass holders will also receive our second digital expansion pack, Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Bespin. We’re taking players in and around Cloud City, with four new maps for all of our most popular modes. You’ll see AT-ATs in Cloud City, take to the skies in Fighter Squadron, and even spend time in a carbonite chamber. Of course, we’re also adding more blasters and Star Cards, a new game mode, and two new iconic characters we’re really excited about – Lando Calrissian and the cold-blooded bounty hunter, Dengar.

According to your site, BF4 - the FPS Holy Grail or something - has 20k players more (40k on Star wars).

It`s an awful game, sure, but if you want to have a go pick your argument better, don`t bleat on about only the dev and his cat playing it.
Its not "his" link. Neither is it "mine". I just posted it. But a quick Google search will make it obvious to you that BF4 is also considered very problematic in terms of players still playing since 2014, because of several issues, not to mention its over 2 years older.
I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

No single-player campaign (preferably with co-op), no sale.

Although at this point, I'd rather they just make a separate campaign-focused game.

12 million sold, yep, I`m sure nobody plays it.

12 million copies shipped not sold . . . EA wont give up the true sold thru numbers and there's a reason why . . . shareholders

Do you not know how retail works?

yes, was in retail for 13 years, ship thru and sold thru are different terms for different reasons. Sold thru (or "sold in") are sales number for actual SKUs sold to customers, the actual sale of the title from retailer to the consumer. Shipped through is what EA (or any distributor) ships out of there warehouses to the retailer (GameStop, Target, BestBuy, etc.). A retailer can actually send titles BACK to the distributor that they do not sell thru for a refund from the distributor (EA). The KEY wording from shareholder reporting or any PR firm are "sold through" or "sold in" vs. "shipped through" ... normally when a company uses the term "Shipped Thru" its a term of deflection to inflate their numbers over what was actually sold thru.

Here is a quick explanation or the two terms:

http://www.asymco.com/2012/05/28/shipped-and-sold-a-brief-introduction/

so i turn it back to you, do YOU know how retail works? Don't buy into PR release numbers, watch for the terminology they use to spin the announcement to their favor, and most the time its for the appeasement of shareholders as its sounds much better to a share holder to read that your investment shipped through 15 million units vs. we only sold through (sold in) 5 million units.

Yeah, in that context pretty much nobody plays it:
http://swbstats.com/

.0075% of the player base has played the game in the last 24 hours......

FAIL

I don't know where you get the %s from, but that seems about like what I said. Relatively healthy on the console and dead on the PC. Then again, it always looked like a console game to me. If I hadn't ended up with a One I don't think I would of ever picked it up. It could still be salvaged on the console but they would need to get started on some major content patches ASAP. PC? Probably a lost cause.

This interests me, but I would have to see what it is first. I have zero intention of getting any of the paid expansions until I see a lot more free content first. It is sad because what is there is nice, but there is just so little there. Even with the one free map pack.

As for the player base? It is still big on the One. IDK about the PC, it always seemed like a console game to me.

this game is NOT worth covering in the least, its relevant to the owner of the license and the lone dev that still plays.

7 or so, but they'll keep reupping it.

spend time in a carbonite chamber

I imagine they'll lower the player count for new modes till it's just two people playing on a server.
