DOOM Multiplayer Modes Detailed

Bethesda.net has a post revealing the multiplayer modes in DOOM, id's upcoming shooter. The modes are Soul Harvest, Freeze Tag, Warpath, Domination, Team Deathmatch, Clan Arena. They offer complete details along with this trailer showing things off. Here's an overview:

Not for the main campaign, though they said you can make Snap-map maps that support it. But then they went on and said there was no support for linking maps together, so...yay?

I just played some Freeze Tag in Quake Live a few days ago. I forgot how fun that mode was. Though playing it with anything other than rails is kind of sacrilege... Not too hard to spray someone with a machine gun for a freeze... but it appears the might have a dmg threshold instead of one hit like I'm used to.

Freeze Tag is a hard sell since it means people have to be willing to not play the game at times, but damn if the concept doesn't look fun.

There were 6 modes shown. The first three (Soul Harvest, Freeze Tag and Warpath) had video and mode descriptions, the last three (Domination, Team Deathmatch and Clan Arena) were just shown quickly at the end.

Really like the idea behind that Warpath mode.

Moving control points... kind of like payload but without the stupid payload.

What does that even mean anymore?? PS4 and Xbox one are PCs, and the lack of an FOV option in an alpha release means nothing.

Unless they designed the game with an optional higher FOV on the PC I fear they might lock the setting down for "fairness" and the fact that a higher FOV will probably break their take-down animations where you might see the inside of arms and whatnot with a higher FOV.

Well it is releasing on the consoles as well so chances are pretty slim the PC platform was their main focus for development.

Are there even going to be mods? They are all about snapmap right now, which seems pretty limited.

Guessing mods will fix the lack of co-op. Doom 3 is so much more fun with co-op. Nostalgia is feeding my need to get this day one and not much more.
I miss the days when an id game meant a huge innovation to gaming.

Yup, I only care about the single player soooooo...80 bucks is a negative. Maybe when it comes down a bit.
