Free Planetary Annihilation Keys [Mar 16, 2016, 09:50 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Bundle Stars is giving
away free Steam keys for Planetary Annihilation. There are some hoops
to jump through, but nothing major: In exchange for a free copy of the space
strategy game they want you to sign up for their newsletter, join their Steam
group, and view a couple of deals. They also are currently running a separate
giveaway of a laptop.
Free is good however I want to warn people its a thoroughly Meh game.
Well got one. Maybe the single player is fun, who knows....free is good

This game unfortunately sucks. There are like 10 people playing at any given time. Supreme Commander is still the best (AND most up-to-date) game in this genre.

Although, Homeworld remastered and Homeworld Deserts of Kharak both pretty awesome strategy games imo.

Is there much of a multiplayer community emerging for Deserts of Kharak? I thoroughly enjoyed the single player campaign, but the Steam player count numbers aren't encouraging, and I haven't been sure if I want to invest the time in learning the multiplayer game if no one is in fact playing.

It has to be able to see your profile when it checks the group membership. Set your profile public, join group, set private, leave group.
If you signed up with your regular email address... well...

There is basically no one playing either game. They have averaged essentially the same number of players since August, under 500.
Is anyone expecting a large MP community in a failed project that is being given away for free? For "free" I'll blow up some planets later and then be done with it barring some major patch.
EDIT: It says the game is excluded from Steam Family sharing... which makes me think that if you install it on multiple computers but run the exe directly... I bet it isn't authenticating anything. :p Will try this later.
The current humble bundle offers some great games for like 12 dollars. This includes Grey Goo, which is a pretty damn decent RTS.

Well since you put it that way.
The most exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions.
The game is hot garbage, the company abandoned it to release titans, and they trot this deal out now and then so that people can pay the upgrade price for titans instead of the full one.
Well it was no harm in joining the group and viewing the pages it required to receive the key so I'll try it and if I don't like it, quick uninstall. It's not like you couldn't immediately leave the group after
