Free Planetary Annihilation Keys

Bundle Stars is giving away free Steam keys for Planetary Annihilation. There are some hoops to jump through, but nothing major: In exchange for a free copy of the space strategy game they want you to sign up for their newsletter, join their Steam group, and view a couple of deals. They also are currently running a separate giveaway of a laptop.

Those folks that threw over $10K at Star Citizen? They have zero recourse if the game never moves past beta.

The whole problem wasn't just the incomplete nature of the game, but the fact they went back on easy promises like NO DRM. They had drm right from the get go that was their big plan and they had their spin machine going full blast through early access to hide the fact they knew going in it would be DRM'd. The community uproar was what made them reneg to some degree but it's still chained to that awful server browser shit despite now being playable in 'offline mode'. Modern gaming is a nightmare of needlessly complex bullshit stunts pulled by developers and publishers, just to lock down the fucking game.

The 90's overall were such a better time for videogame fans with level editors and genuine camaraderie between devs and fans, so much so they released open source to the community. Modern game devs/pubs are just pumping and dumping the stupid half of humanity full tilt because they know they are sheep.

I remember all the maps and models for quake and I look at the modern wasteland that is DLC and microtransactions for those stupid bastards who basically gave the go ahead for devs not to release tools as it would interfere with their microtransaction plans.

You see valve whoring themselves out in dota 2 trying to get paid modding so they get a cut of everything. Gaming is such a shit fest because most of mankind is at subhuman levels of intelligence.

*points to the door*

It's a pretty door, yes? So big and nice wood accents. It's been there a long time and many have passed through, leaving a very small, unnoticed piece of themselves as they continued on their journey. You can go through it. No one will stop you. Just be sure to put your hands behind you as you pass so it doesn't hit you on the ass on the way out...

Here's the basic problem:

Supreme Commander: . . . $10M
Supreme Commander 2: . . $11M
Planetary Annihilation: $2.5M

The budget just wasn't there so they had to cut corners on stuff.

Man I wish Chris Taylor had been able to make Kings and Castles.

Its free here...boy you are proving your age. Troll much?

"Developer broke it's promises" Wow you think everyone cares about all your problems......let me save you troubles in life......NO...no one cares, your going to have so many promises broken in life. Deal with it. Until humans are perfect you will be disappointed.

The game is free if you do the deal, if your still unhappy...go cry to your mommy. You sure your not a console peasant? I don't believe your a superior PC race.

For a free game you guy sure want to complain,

It wasn't free you moron. To the people who funded the game, they had every right to complain about it. PA was crowdfunded, since players funded the development of the game. The developer broke it's promises and then some. No one in their right mind would not criticize the clusterfuck that was planetary annihilation.

You do realize that crowd funding doesn't actually have any guarantees though right? Its basically you throwing your money at a project in the hopes it not only gets completed, but completed well. Those folks that threw over $10K at Star Citizen? They have zero recourse if the game never moves past beta.

The current humble bundle offers some great games for like 12 dollars. This includes Grey Goo, which is a pretty damn decent RTS.
Been waiting for Grey Goo to go on sale. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh quit your complaining. The game was great for the indie budget it had. It was a great game for being a whole universe being the map/battlefield.

For a free game you guy sure want to complain, yes it was bad they wanted full price for titans but as capitalism goes...if you don't want it don't buy it. Eventually the price will drop. I swear you guys act like little children sometimes or maybe you are.

PA titans is worth your time. I got really tired of Starcraft.

The game is hot garbage, the company abandoned it to release titans, and they trot this deal out now and then so that people can pay the upgrade price for titans instead of the full one.

you're not getting anything free from this. anyone who plays PA plays PA titans which is a different game. this key is literally worthless

There is basically no one playing either game. They have averaged essentially the same number of players since August, under 500.

Is anyone expecting a large MP community in a failed project that is being given away for free? For "free" I'll blow up some planets later and then be done with it barring some major patch.

EDIT: It says the game is excluded from Steam Family sharing... which makes me think that if you install it on multiple computers but run the exe directly... I bet it isn't authenticating anything. :p Will try this later.

Im already getting spammed by the likes of Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft, etc. and I sure as fuck didn't get nothing for free from them, so yeah compared to that other shit which you pay money for and still get spammed, I'd consider this a pretty easy and free lunch.
