New Radeon Crimson Drivers

AMD now offers new Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3 drivers for AMD graphics cards, which include support for the new HITMAN game, as well as per-game display scaling (thanks Mashiki). Here's word:

Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3 Highlights

Updated Crossfire Profiles available for

  • Hitman™
  • The Park

Support for

  • Hitman™

Performance and Quality improvements for

  • Rise of the Tomb Raider™(2)
  • Up to 16% on AMD Radeon™ R9 Fury X Series vs AMD Radeon™ Software Crimson Edition 16.2.
  • Gears of War Ultimate Edition(3)
  • Up to 60% on AMD Radeon™ R9 Fury X series vs AMD Radeon™ Software Crimson Edition 16.2.1
  • Up to 44% on AMD Radeon™ R9 380 series vs AMD Radeon™ Software Crimson Edition 16.2.1

Vulkan™ Support(1): Vulkan™ is the successor to OpenGL and a descendant of AMD's Mantle. Vulkan™ is a powerful "low-overhead" graphics API that gives software developers deep control over the performance, efficiency, and capabilities of Radeon™ GPUs and multi-core CPUs. More information on Vulkan™ can be found at https://www.khronos.org/vulkan/.

Per-Game Display Scaling: A new feature introduced in Radeon™ Settings that allows per game Display Scaling to be set within the Radeon™ Settings Gaming tab under "Profile Options".

Well these drivers fix the full screen flicker in OGL from the last beta release. Haven't run across any other problems either.

Know what I would like to see from AMD, or Nvidia or anyone that often releases drivers like this.

Take a "Tic - Toc" approach. In one version add the new stuff and in alternating versions fix everything that was wrong in the previous version, without adding anything including bugs.

That way I, along with other sane people, can just download the version that likely won't mess things up and ignore these "game ready", or whatever, versions.

That would require reason and common sense. Something severely lacking today pretty much everywhere.

I usually just wait until they change something I care about, or it's been 6 months since I've updated. I'm actually happy AMD is putting out more frequent updates lately. It kind of sucked when they were only releasing once a quarter (not counting beta releases).

Really strange that there is no mention of The Division in the driver. I know some of my friends were waiting on a new driver just for that game. Very odd they don't mention it.

Strange? Are you new to AMD drivers? Not nearly enough months have passed.
The developers are heavily involved with Nvidia...so it's normal to see AMD taking some time to release a new driver for the game.
