Sniper Elite 4 Announced

Rebellion officially announces Sniper Elite 4, confirming plans for a new installment in the sharpshooting series, saying this is coming to Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 this year. They illustrate the news with this teaser trailer, and offer the following details:
Independent developer and publisher Rebellion has revealed that the next game in the 10 million selling Sniper Elite series is launching this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Set in the immediate aftermath of its award-winning predecessor, Sniper Elite 4 continues the series’ World War Two heritage by transporting players to the beautiful and diverse environments of Italy in 1943.

Covert agent and elite marksman Karl Fairburne must fight alongside the brave men and women of the Italian Resistance to help free their country from the yoke of Fascism, and defeat a terrifying new threat with the potential to halt the Allied fightback in Europe before it’s even begun.

If his mission fails, there will be no Operation Overlord, no D-Day landings, and no Victory in Europe.

True next-gen stealth
Running in native 1080p on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Sniper Elite 4 is the first game in the series built without the constraints of older hardware and aims to deliver the definitive World War Two shooter for a generation.

From sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns to colossal Nazi megastructures, daunting forests and giddying mountain monasteries inspired by Monte Cassino, Sniper Elite 4 will offer breathless emergent stealth action and unrivalled sniping freedom across maps many times the size of those seen in Sniper Elite 3.

Enjoyed the first couple, but the third was super boring and repetitive.

what about the Pacific theater? Missions could be set in the Philippines, colonial Shanghai, Guadalcanal, and on Iwo Jima. The change of theater would be both refreshing and open up new tactical possibilities.
Or what about the Eastern Front? The siege of Stalingrad could contain an entire game itself. Ever hear of Vasily Zaytsev? The guy put up video game number kills in real life.

I'm sure that's coming in SE 5. They have a lot to milk still. lol

I liked SE2, played a little of SE3 but the gameplay just felt repetitive.

I bought SE3 based upon the love it got here.

I did the tutorial, which felt kind of on rails to me. I mean, it's a tutorial, but it really felt like I was following a path and not sneaking around doing my thing, followed by a whack-a-mole end.

So I did the first mission, and it was... exactly the same thing. I felt I'd seen all there was to see and stopped.

Incidentally, that was my Assassin's Creed 1 experience, as well. Did the tutorial, had a bit of fun but not a lot, then saw the entire game was repeating it (except the AC tutorial showcased all the powers that then were taken away and you had to spend the game requiring, meaning it was actually more fun than most of the game.)

Rebellion fanboy derp is strong with this one.

As with you, I was hoping for another timeline in history. I posted a comment on their fb page about it and you would have thought I told them to make a game sniping puppies and kittens.

I'm kind of feeling this was a missed opportunity. This is the fourth game set not just in WW2, but in the European/North African theater of WW2.
The. Fourth.

Never mind that there's an amazing game Sniper Elite game which could be set during the Vietnam war or the Korean conflict, or even during the Iraq War. If you must stay in WW2, what about the Pacific theater? Missions could be set in the Philippines, colonial Shanghai, Guadalcanal, and on Iwo Jima. The change of theater would be both refreshing and open up new tactical possibilities.
Or what about the Eastern Front? The siege of Stalingrad could contain an entire game itself. Ever hear of Vasily Zaytsev? The guy put up video game number kills in real life.
