I don't think it is fixable. They knew it wasn't what anyone wanted and they went ahead anyway.

What they are doing now is using DLC sales to help finance the next true X game. So the masochists that actually enjoy Rebirth or the people who would give Egosoft money regardless of what they push out are propping up the next X game.

They are even testing new mechanics in Rebirth that will get added to the next game.

I'm not giving them a cent but I guess there is such a thing as blind loyalty.

Also love trolls like Cutter asking if X-Rebirth is fun yet. Like he'd ever play.

I will say they changed their paradigm so you can now radio in and communicate through a menu instead of having to land.

A bunch of other stuff to keep you on the ship. The thing that breaks it for me is there's no TrackIR support. I lose interest after a few minutes.

I was asking a question. You're obviously too fucking moronic to grasp even that much. Point fact I own all the X games except Rebirth, idiot.

I own Rebirth. I sure as fuck feel like an idiot for buying that POS.

X3:TC and X3:AP are significantly more "filled" games than Elite is. There is an absolute shitload of stuff to do in both games. Campaigns for all races, build your own stations, build your own production lines, own entire fleets of ships, set up trading fleets, build your own headquarters and own ships, capture ships, pirating, trading. I'm not harping on Elite, but the amount of things to do in the previous two X games is enormous.

Yes! If you can get past the learning curve, X3:TC is the game I have the most time logged on. It is amazing to go from a nobody to having fleets of dozens of ships, then drilling into an asteroid and building your own space stations with interlocking components to create full manufacturing networks. Absolutely exceptional game!

Evochron Legacy is a great sandbox game. Newtonian flight. Planetary/atmospheric flight and landings. Huge variety of missions. Build your own stations and cities on planets.

Build your ship from components with a good number of customization options. Moddable out of the gate. Trade, fight, mine, explore.

The graphics aren't up to Elite Dangerous levels but they much improved them in this version to where I find them very tolerable. Game gets updates very regularly and my only regret is that some independent investor hasn't given this guy enough cash to make it even bigger and better. Not that it is a 'small' game in the first place.

Anybody put time into Evochron Legacy? Apparently it's an Elite/X game with depth, all done by one guy. Haven't had the time to explore it yet but going to give it a shot after my Witcher 3 playthrough is done. There's a demo as well.

X Rebirth will never be a good game. At least not good in terms of the previous games. The game has been changed too fundamentally and you'd have to revert things on a very low level.
The basis of the game is just much more different from the other games, i.e. when it comes to building stations and managing fleets etc.

I still hope the rumours are true about how there is going to be a real X game in the future that is basically an upgrade of X3AP.

I get that...but it takes you three years to do anything in X-land that is fun.

Disagreed - sort of. My favorite thing to do in the X3 games was to just use the built-in script editor to give myself a bajillion credits from the get-go, and then slowly build up a self-sustaining station / hub complex that could eventually produce weapons, ship parts, and even ships for my needs. Then I'd load a bunch of custom-outfitted fighters into a fleet of capital ships and take over the galaxy, one sector at a time!

Naturally some of the later race war / sector takeover mods made this a lot more entertaining. But yeah, if you skip the initial grind the X games can be tons of fun.

Elite is a spaceship only game. X-Rebirth is something else.

There is a steep learning curve with X, yes. There was a time when that was considered a plus in a game, that shit didn't get handed to you straight off the bat.

You can actually go have fun straight off the bat in X, it's just that some stuff is considered late game. You're not going to own a destroyer in three hours. Part of the fun in having one is the work you do in building up towards it, and then the awesome feeling when you fly it. But you can go be a pirate or go trade or go do missions or main storylines straight off the bat.

And I'm not knocking Elite for not having space stations, I'm just saying that there's a megaton of stuff to do in X, and building space stations (especially since X3 when you could connect them and build massive complexes) is a ton of fun. Admittedly that's late game fun because it costs a crapload of money, but it's there.

I really don't see how X is more boring than Elite. In Elite you can trade and you can fight people, and that's it. (Oh wait, I guess you can drive around empty planets now.) Compared to X, it's practically barren.
