DOOM Uncut for Germany

A Bethesda Deutschland tweet announces DOOM will come to Germany with no content cuts, a first for the violent shooter series. Polygon has more on the news after discussing it with Bethesda's Pete Hines. "We're pleased the game can be released in its entirety in Germany without the need to edit or change anything," Bethesda vice president of marketing Pete Hines told Polygon. "Perhaps not all that surprising given how other titles have been rated there recently, but still a cool thing to see given that Doom and Doom 2 were banned in Germany and were delisted a few years ago."

Is Germany finally unclenching about violence in video games or something?

We haven't had any school shootings or other amok runs that could be blamed on video games in a long, long time so that may have something to do with it (the last "big one" was Winnenden in 2009). Watch this policy get a 180 reversal if and when something happens again. Our politicians (like everywhere else) are opportunistic assholes who are just after short term popularity for the next election. Banning video games just has not been a public interest topic for many years now.

Or maybe it simply has to do with the fact that the game looks shitty enough to not be considered a realistic portrayal of violent acts. I mean it does have to run on Shitbox so that is a very likely possibility actually and all the footage they have shown so far just illustrated what a lame-ass low req garbage port this is going to be.
