The Division Beta Claims Record

The website for Tom Clancy's The Division thanks the 6.4 million agents who participated in the open beta for the upcoming third-person shooter. UbiBlog claims this is a record, though they don't say what game previously held that mark. Here's word:
The Division development team announced on the official site today that over 6.4 million players participated in The Division Beta, setting the record for an all-new brand on current generation consoles. Those 6.4 million players spent an average of five hours taking on missions and exploring the Dark Zone – the latter proved to be an especially popular activity with players spending an average of two hours searching for and extracting some of the beta’s best loot.

While they were successful, the numbers show that there were probably more than a few tense stand-offs at various extraction points in the city. Over 63 million contaminated items were extracted out of the Dark Zone, but almost 50 percent of the player population tried to steal loot from fellow agents by going rogue.

I don't mind MP, I just don't have a set schedule that I can dedicate time to play online with a group.
Maybe that is why I like to play CoD every now and then because that is more of a solo MP game than one where you rely on team mates. Quick run and gun fun for 30 minutes and move on to something else.

I'm sure this would be a blast to play with friends but 90% of the time I will be playing solo so I hope the SP part of the game is decent.

I really enjoyed Future Soldier so I am glad this has similar mechanics.

If this didn't have Ubisoft tagged to it then I'd be interested.

More like dumbed-down experience of DayZ actually, gameplay in this game is a hand-holding joke.

I'm mostly a single-player and/or PVE guy but I had a lot of fun in both betas, within groups and on my own. Put in a total of 32 hours between the two with the majority of it in the Dark Zone. Had a complete blast. I pre-ordered a regular edition before the first beta, after this one I bumped it up to the gold edition. No question whatsoever. The cheapest right now (official Ubisoft vendors) is Gamesplanet, comes out to $73.45 if you use the forUNCUT deal after transaction (GBP->USD) fees. Box can be had for $79.99 and applicable taxes on Amazon with Prime. May be possible to get it cheaper at places like Best Buy if you're part of a game membership club.

For people who loved the Dark Zone play like Slick, be sure to get the gold edition. It comes with the Survival expansion which makes the entire city a Dark Zone. You can get it via Season Pass later, of course, but you'd miss out on some bonuses in the meantime. Again, like I said, no question! I'm recommending the regular edition for my casual gaming friends but any serious PC gamer is going gold. If I can get 32 hours in two weekends out of a 4-level PVE stint with 90% of the game and features (e.g., crafting) cut off, and enjoy myself with 1/5 of the map and 1/3 of the Dark Zone, I'm pretty sure I'll get my money's worth.

After playing the CB I loaded into OB, ran around for 5 minutes and discovered I really did not care for it that much anymore. I was alone this time, usually we had squad full of friends.

Will check how the game is after a month and then decide.

i might have the same opinions as most here after thinking more about my experience. after completing the 2 main story missions, i rummaged around a bit and called it quits. obviously if had invested more time which i did not have, things might have been different. but still cool for the first 4 hours or so.

I really didn't feel it at all.

Their rogue system is a joke (90% of the rogues [minus the groups] were red by accident - or their turrets did it), pvp zone was really devoid of ai/quests, respawn areas were way too common (i'd kill someone as a rogue and within a minute i'd have to kill them again), combat is just spam to cover, quests are all just copies of each other, weapons sound like pea shooters, ai are bullet sponges, graphic quality has been reduced heavily, and the game just felt like a massive loot grind.

It felt like destiny 2.0

/shrug

Bugs and crappy netcode asside, king of the kill mode in h1z1 is a far more intense and rewarding experience imo.

I hooked up my PC to my sony 4k tv and had a blast with what little time i had this weekend with the beta. it was better then i thought it was going to be. combat and gameplay was very polished. The game supported my xbox controller, and ran very well at 2160p. if i can afford it, next month i will buy it.

First game I've pre-ordered in awhile besides blizzard ones. I had lots of fun in the beta, put about 6 hours in. I have some concerns about gameplay and longevity but I'm willing to take the risk based on what I've seen.

Well for one, it's practically Destiny on PC. Very much like Destiny. For two, there are far too few third person shooters out there, much less on PC. And 3, it's got that carrot on a stick that is the Diablo/Borderlands-esque loot system. I think the game will be VERY crazy in the higher levels with the top tier loot, 12 abilities (each with 3 different perks), a set of talents that I haven't even seen, and some kind of signature ability, too.

The PVP can be so intense, too. It's sorta like a streamlined DayZ experience, kinda.

same reason people play counter strike, battlefield or call of duty.. all of it is the same shit over and over.. but for some people they connect with the identity of a certain game and that's the game they stick with.. as much as i loved BF4 .. there was something off about it that never enticed me into competitive play like counter strike did..

In the end.. each of us have different taste the division just happens to be mine.

OH YEAH. These fucks. It's just as meaningless a claim now as it was then.

How is it meaningless? Battlefront had 9M beta entrants, and sold about 13M copies last I checked.

Why are you angry again? where did the benign numbers touch you?
