Out of the Blue

Happy birthday Abe Lincoln, as Honest Abe was born on this date in 1809. This is actually some sort of legal holiday here in New York State, and it also is in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri, so we all get to take it easy (or something). Since George Washington's birthday is 10 days off, this all will get its main celebration on Monday in the more inclusive President's Day, when we will honor both their legacies with low, low prices.

Just in case you never studied history, New England ship and cannon builders started gorging on government contracts for warships and cannon several years before the war between the states officially started. Okay, I'll bite. What was the real reason for the US Civil War?

Also don't forget it was on Abe's watch that the other American minority (Native Americans) was systematically slaughtered and forced from their land into camps. Yea he was a real jewel when it came to human rights, but hey he also gave the railroads right of way across what used to be American Indian land.

Against all odds, apparently Deadpool doesn't suck. Guess I have to go see it, now...

no joke, it's not just not sucky, it's pretty awesome. you know how the trailer is surprisingly badass and entertaining? the whole film is like that. i know, color me shocked, but i thoroughly enjoyed it. this is the marvel film for all of us who like to appreciate the absurdity of life.

And (finally) rated-R movie. Sick of kiddie movies.

Also, fuck that smug prick Shkreli. May he rot in cell.

Steam takes forever to allow or deny a refund. I sent a message asking what's up but then I realized it's essentially going to the same department and threw my palm on to my face.

Did anyone catch that documentary on PBS last week on James Garfield? Interesting man to say the least. Can't say I knew anything about him prior to this. They always murder the good ones.

Someone needs to update that Wikipedia article, because Arizona doesn't officially observe Lincoln's birthday as a holiday. After hunting through the morass that passes for Arizona's official website, I found this article, which has quite a bit of info on Abe's birthday and the lack of recognition of same.

So when do we get the good news that Shkreli will be visiting the big house for life? Since all his charges have to do with money, he's more fucked than if he blew up a bus full of Nuns so I hope he gets sent to the closest thing to Crematoria as possible.

Let cell block D wipe that smirk off his rat face.

I'm not one to advocate prison rape, but Martin isn't making it easy.

Dawn of Justice was good, just needs better music. Unless they are trying to out do Star Trek Beyond.
