Nope combat isn't appealing in third person either. For example that Shadows of Mordor game was fun for about an hour and a half before it got repetitive and boring. I guess 3rd person action/adventure games are just not my thing.

Not really sure why the perspective would matter? If SoM was first-person, would you have enjoyed it? Of course, the combat system wouldn't have worked at all in first-person.

Wait for the PC or PS4 version. XBone had awful frame issues during cut scenes and certain action sequences. Nothing says XBone like 15 fps!

I could never really get into Tomb Raider. Not really sure what the attraction was, besides a pixelated fake chick, with huge 3d boobs. Maybe it would have been somewhat exciting when I was 14 or something, but then again I was never really a fan of 3rd person action games anyway.

The appeal of the series has always been its combination of platforming and puzzle-solving. Exploring ancient tombs, reaching places nobody's been in hundreds of years, pulling off crazy acrobatics to avoid lethal traps, etc. If you don't like puzzles or platforming, then that would explain the lack of interest. Of course, the last two games have focused more on combat than puzzle-solving or platforming so you might find them more appealing.

The b00bs were a nice bonus but the Tomb Raider games could have been Indiana Jones games and still would have been really good (well, most of them anyway). Treasure hunting in exotic locations has its appeal and the games were always state of the art in the technical department. It was simply a lot of fun to explore the levels and to figure out the puzzles (some of them were pretty hard in the older games).

The 2013 TR was light on puzzles but it had excellent level design so it was still a lot of fun to explore the locations. I also thought the narrative was decent in spite of some apparent discord between scared girl and mass killer chick. No need to overthink it. It's just supposed to show her conflict and how she learns to kill out of a necessity to survive. She kills a lot but she does not like it. That is all they were trying to convey in the cutscenes.

Anyone who enjoyed Tomb Raider 2013 should pick this up, its similar to the last game but improves on it in pretty much every way. Its also a bit of a homage to the very first Tome Raider game as in this one you actually raid quite a few tombs. Gameplay is split up nicely between puzzle solving, combat and story telling, its a really nice balance. Some of the best facial animation I've seen too.

So the devs made a mistake with the exclusivity deal, so what? they have made an excellent game and deserve to be supported. Easily in my top 5 games of the year, and I don't even like MS or the XB1 but credit where its due.

Is this going to be like the last Tomb Raider, the one where Lara is conflicted about taking taking human and animal life in the cutscenes but in the actual gameplay she's curb stomping and brutally executing like it's Gears of War?

I could never get past that dichotomy it pulled me right out of the narrative. It's a major problem where the tone in the cutscenes is different from the tone in gameplay. It's almost like they had 2 different teams who didn't talk each other, create the game.

OooOoH, exclusivity! Like, it would actually convince me to go out and buy a damn console for 1 f**kin game. Get real.

I'll wait it out patiently, get extra HD content, packs, DLCs thrown in and whatever, just for not buying it on console early.

Well, yeah, the secret fan service mode that includes alternate dress styles for Lara will. These include little black dress, bikini, miniskirt schoolgirl, sexy maid, and evening lingerie. Also, at the end of the game, there's a mode where you get to the hotel and help Lara shower all the grime off and shave. Let's just say you've got a bit to shave off after being out in the bush for so long. Lots of quicktime events there.

The last 2013 Tomb Raider was one of the very few games I preordered and actually paid full price for in the last five years. This new one will be a freebie thanks exclusively to Microsoft's shitty PC policies.

Square decided to sign the contract with MS. I'd say they're even more to blame because MS will always focus on pushing their hardware whereas Square has no reason to. Against all logic and reason, Square thought it was wise to neglect more than 2/3 of their customer base.

That said, pirating RoTT won't exactly encourage Square to avoid such deals in the future. If anything, it will make PC even more of an afterthought. The best course of action is to avoid buying the game on Xbox (which most people have apparently already done). Square definitely made a lot of stupid decisions with the launch of RoTT but at least they're releasing the PC version relatively soon after the Xbox version. I was expecting a 6 month wait, not a 3 month wait.

I haven't been keeping up but are we arguing against piracy because it hurts the industry or are we indifferent with it because piracy doesn't hurt the industry?

I need to know how I should feel.

Technically MS paid for 1 year exclusivity. Their Xbox One had it first, and now PC (MS Windows) gets it. Sony has to wait until holiday 2016.

It was the only game I was saving my Bone for. I played it and beat it and sold it and the console. I didn't 100% it like the last one because there are some damn annoying bugs that will hopefully be worked out when the PS4 version comes out.

The last one certainly wasn't, you ran around in a forest for most of it.

And I have no idea why I continue to argue with CJ. His logic is so flawed, but whatever. That two months was more likely a "let's not make this game take over as the new Arkham Knight" polishing phase than an exclusivity agreement (especially only two months, most deals are 6 months or a year). But CJ's convinced otherwise, specifically because it justifies pirating the game.
