The Witcher III Graphics Mod

The GeForce website has a write up on The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, a visual modification for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt that gives the already impressive visuals in the RPG sequel even further polish. This video offers a look, and here's a bit on what this does:
Członka has just released version 2.0 of his mod, and some of the improvements within are absolutely stunning. The HD Reworked project will make you see the game’s visually impressive fantasy world in a whole new light. He has painstakingly worked his way through the game, creating whole new models and textures to replace the originals, and the result is a gorgeously realized world that feels close to phosto-realism. Roofs, rocks, crates, tiles and trees have all been given the HD makeover, and they all look fantastic. We're particularly taken by the new spruces, which are thick with sharp-looking needles that you feel like you could almost touch.

Even at 1080p this video is extremely grainy for me. Not sure if that's the video or if my internet connection is just choking.

In any case, it looks very nice, but not so mindblowingly awesome that I'd trade in what appears to be a pretty big performance hit for it.

Yeah, something got messed up with that vid, probably when the poster compressed it for upload.
RIP RedEye9. We miss you.

I just picked this game up today on Steam and had no idea about this mod. The game already looks mind blowing and I can run all the cool hair effects. Not sure I want to push it though. I'm single card 970gtx and it's running everything on Ultra pretty damn solid so far. Got to say, it's definitely up there with technological achievements in a game. So much damn detail. Makes me feel like I'm playing the fantasy world version of GTA5.
I've yet to get anywhere pretty much though to give my thoughts on the game though.

Is it me, or is that the worst youtube video quality, even at 1080p ever? Everything keeps getting blurry every 5-10 seconds, and I barely even notice a difference, because I can't really compare. (I'm assuming its just the video, since I've let the entire video load and its still doing it.)

Btw I really hope this game will get a good rebalancing mod before the second expansion comes out. I want to replay it, but not with the current balance.

My god, how I hated the fact the main quests were getting gray while I still had 15 sidequests to do before going to that other island.

In the long run, it doesn't really matter. You'll still level up at a normal pace even if you don't get the max XP reward for every quest.

No, the bigger issue is that leveling becomes pointless once you've filled up all your skill slots. You'll just be dumping points into skills you either don't use or can't use because all your slots are filled. I'm hoping they add some more skill slots in the Blood & Wine expansion.

Yeah leveling up isn't the issue, it's just getting really easy without it being my intent.

And yeah, I never really liked the skilltree. Way too much passive stuff, imo.

Can't wait to replay it, though. I really want to drool again.

While I appreciate the effort and work that goes into these color correction mods I don't particularly find them useful. I actually prefer the native color palette. If I wanted a real life color palette I stop playing video games and go outside.
The most exercise some people get is jumping to conclusions.

Looks pretty good but personally, I think the stock textures already look more than good enough.

I agree. Not worth the hassle. I'm sure that any framerate drop after installing this mod I will blame on it, also, whether it's true or not.

Look great. Also looks like a pig to run too. Guess we'll see when the second expansion is released.
