American Truck Simulator in February

A Steam Community Group Announcement has a release date for American Truck Simulator, saying SCS Software's trucking sequel is due on February 3rd (thanks PCGamesN). They include a reminder that this will launch with just a portion of the full game:
At last, we are ready to commit to an official release date of the first edition of American Truck Simulator; the game will hit digital and retail stores on February 3, 2016.

As the readers of our blog will no doubt know by now, this release will be just the first step on the road. A couple of trucks and the state of California that we are bringing you with the base game release is only a fraction of our grand vision - to cover all of North America eventually and to chase every relevant truck manufacturer for a license to allow us to include their trucks into the game.

Well, we have to set on the way, and this is where we start. Hold on tight!

Do they have wild fires that shut down roads, or having to dodge illegal aliens at border patrol checkpoints? What about fucktards who are driving and using their cellphones or driving and putting on makeup to avoid?

Also it needs the Prius driving 10 mph under the limit in the left lane.

California will offer a lot of pretty country to drive through if it's anything even remotely close to accurate.

It will also offer the I-5. AKA like 8-12 hours of absolutely flat uninteresting driving with minimal bends in the road and no interesting landscape to look at. Hope you have a good road music mix.

Bah, I've driven the I-5 top to bottom a buncha times and there's plenty of nice terrain to see. Mount Shasta Californy, always being my favourite view coming into or leaving the state.

You want flat, straight, and boring? Try driving the Trans Canada through Saskatchewan. It's actually kind of surreal. Just hours and hours of nothing but wheat fields. Goddamn there's a lot of wheat there.

Dude Shasta is seriously like 500 miles north of the Grapevine, and it's more or less very gentle hills or flat the entire time. Between Sacramento and Bakersfield, there is nothing. And about 300 miles of nothing.

Using a steering wheel on a Burnout game is like using the Space Shuttle controls to fly a kite.

It can't possibly be as boring as Salina, KS to Denver, CO along I-70.

I'm going for the full immersive effect, greasy fast food, hookers and plenty of drugs.

That would be so awesome if they included that stuff. I'll be looking to make a list of trucker songs like Covoy and Drivin My Life Away. I hope as they expand it this will mean professionally done weather and seasons finally. That's the biggest part missing of ETS2.
