Yes but that makes too much sense. You'll never reach people like the guy in here who are likely thinking GUVERNMENT WONT TAKE MY CAR. The same people opposed to this are probably the ones who fight any reasonable gun control measures tooth and nail.

Thankfully its a generational problem that will die out when the luddites do. Newer generations are already proving to be very acceptable of technology change with vehicles.

Doesn't seem like it's an unsolvable problem. The technology is still fairly new. While no computer can accurately predict the behavior of other drivers, the truth is, most drivers can't do that either. Most drivers aren't even paying attention. They are zoned out staring at some sparkly sign or the traffic lights or whatever. Even before the era of cell phones, people still drove like morons and didn't pay attention to the road.

Driverless cars don't need to be better than the perfect human driver. They just need to be better than the average idiot.

Or people are driving too aggressively while distracted by cellphones, radios, GPS etc. This is a major problem in many major cities.

In big cities by 2050? No you won't In the boonies though, I doubt you'd want autonomous driving on country roads

It's all good until you forgot to download the better 3rd party air-bag extension for your car as you're going off said cliff

You don't get it. As you are falling off the cliff, advertisers can use that information and flash lawyer ads in your face before and after you hit the bottom.

It's an excellent article that raises a lot of valid points. I don't think it's really going to work until all the cars on the road are autonomous.

Seriously though... from the article... they often stop in the middle of a turn to double check as they make that turn... yeah... they'll get hit because most humans don't need to do that.
