I almost finished that game, but yeah it was punishing. Jumping was frustrating, but did break up the action pretty well. It felt like there was a bit more going on in the world in turok than other games at the time.

I honestly prefer updates that just fix technical glitches and make games work well on modern machines to ones that try and change the look of the game too much. I'm most likely only playing for nostalgia anyway - the ancient gameplay is not going to attract a new audience just because you slapped a new coat of paint on it.

Might be worth a future sale. Price is a bit much. But... sales. Capitalism at work friends.

Turok was thrilling for a few hours but I was never able to make it very far into the game. It just gets boring, the saving checkpoints are frustrating, and the frequent platform jumping is not exactly joyful.

I remember replaying Turok purely because it took advantage my first 3D card back in the day. The game itself was bearable.

$20 for nearly the same PC release from 1997 is absurd. $5 would be more reasonable.

I don't think $5 is a reasonable price for this game, the best and biggest thing about it was the graphics at the time, something which obviously no longer applies. What you're left with is a poor game with very little nostalgia value (coming from someone who's very nostalgic about games, still have things like BG, Thief, UT and much much more installed).

So even at $5 it wouldn't be worth it. I don't know why they even bothered with this, other than a blatant and poor attempt at milking something sour. Perhaps if they had dome a "remake", in a good engine etc.

Yeah... $20 is a bit much for a port. You can play at higher resolution and it looks like the wall of fog is a bit further off, but all the assets look the same as they were almost 20 years ago. They play it off like that was intentional, so they're using the term "remastered" very loosely here.
In Night Dive Studios' defense, they don't use the word remaster on the Steam page. They simply call it Turok, which is accurate. It is the exact same game with minor tweaks to make it work on modern machines. But yeah, $20 for nearly the same PC release from 1997 is absurd. $5 would be more reasonable.

I loved the original, look forward to checking this out.

I should add for $10 or less.

what a weird release. the original never even made it off n64 to PC, and was widely mocked for the wall of fog.
