Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Date, Specs

A new CapCom Unity post specifies January 15th as the release date for the Windows edition of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, their open world action/RPG that was already expected in January. They celebrate the news with a new PC trailer as well as these minimum and recommended system specifications:
It’s a wonderful thing to see the dark-fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma finally realized in 4K and running at silky-smooth 60 FPS. As a matter of fact, the framerate is uncapped, so if your rig surpasses the recommended specs below, just set the framerate to “Variable”, sit back and enjoy all the action.

Speaking of which, here are the Minimum and Recommended specs, as well as an all-out Performance spec list, if you wanna get fancy and run the game at 4K:

Minimum Specs:
OS: Windows Vista or newer
Processor: Intel Core i5-660 CPU or equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Radeon HD 5870 or equivalent
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Storage: 22 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX-compatible sound card or onboard audio chip
Additional Notes: 1) Supports Keboard + Mouse and XInput / DirectInput devices including Xbox 360, Xbox One, DualShock and Steam Controller. 2) Some high end integrated graphics chips and modern gaming laptops with a discrete GPU may work but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom.

Recommended Specs:
OS: Windows Vista or newer
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K or equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or equivalent
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Storage: 22 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX-compatible sound card or onboard audio chip
Additional Notes: 1) Supports Keboard + Mouse and XInput / DirectInput devices including Xbox 360, Xbox One, DualShock and Steam Controller. 2) Some high end integrated graphics chips and modern gaming laptops with a discrete GPU may work but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom.

AND it's only $30! No excuse not to pick this up, it's one of the best games of recent memory.

Yup this one was a gem and well worth the time and money. Some of the best combat you'll get in a video game and no levelling enemies. The top tier monsters will be out in the wild from the start and they will destroy you and once you level up you'll mow through lesser beasts like grass. One of the rare games where I feared the night. Panic would set in when night was approaching and I was far from a safe location.

I picked this up a year or two ago for PS3... After seeing it compared to Demons/Dark Souls a bunch... Extremely disappointing, but I should go back and give it more of a chance... Some day...

Please do give it a second chance. It takes a good 5-10 hours to really fall in love with it. I consider it one of the best games ever made, no lie. The scope and quality of the game is astounding. It has some of the best combat ever plus tons of secrets and quests and gear. And it has a phenomenal story if you actually see the whole thing through.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen is IMO one of the best video games ever made. EVER.

Psyched.

While the Demon's/Dark Souls comparison isn't wholly inaccurate, it's not very good. At best, think of it as a more arcadey Demon's Souls.

4K Resolution! 60 FPS! And console graphics they didn't bother to touch. And is there some reason they can't state the AMD specs? Yeah, I'm thinking this is going to be a very lazy and cheap port. Caveat emptor.

This looks like something I'd really enjoy. $30 is a really good price, but the cheapskate in me is wary of paying full price then seeing it on GMG for 15% off as soon as I pay. Even a 10% off on Steam would probably get me to pull the trigger.

You're wrong as usual but whatever, I've learned from your pattern of posts that you can't be bothered to do 5 seconds of fucking reading or to use Google on any subject. There is an entire FAQ for the port on the steam page that details everything. It is an excellent port, several sites have preview copies and have commented on it already. They went above and beyond to accommodate the PC community which is why there is a lot of positive buzz for the game, well among people who can read.

The simple mechanics of this game are well beyond your grasp anyway so just fart off to bitch and moan somewhere else.

Always seemed like such a cool and good game, but I had trouble getting into it on consoles due to the letterboxing and crappy frame rates. I'm really anxious to see this at 60 FPS at decent resolutions. The steam screenshots look much better than gameplay in the trailer.

Yet another game I'm looking forward to in 2016! That's Homeworld + Dragon's Dogma in January, XCOM 2 in February, probably missing something else, then The Division (half-heartedly) in.. April?

I can easily find plenty of excuses to pick this up for $9.99 max. The no. 1 reason being that there will probably be no DRM free version, right? If I can only rent the game via Steam instead of own it via GOG or retail then they are not getting more than a tenner. Those fuckers.

I don't even bother with Cutter any more he is the poster child for a Blues News hater / troll, which is saying something since there are several haters on this site.

Eh? If it was a very lazy and cheap port, it wouldn't support 4K or an uncapped framerate. For lazy and cheap ports, see anything from Koei-Tecmo. Capcom is actually one of the few Japanese publishers that does a good job with their ports.

Glad to see MOST of you are excited. I don't think Cutter or CJ have anything they like at all anymore, so whatever. Being Emo is for 15 year olds.

I don't recall a BAD port from Capcom anytime recently. I'm just now going thru DMC, which runs smooth as silk and is WAY more fun than I've had with a game for a long time. Yes, the dialogue is super cheesy, but the game just wants you to have a grin on your face the whole time, and for the most part, it succeeds.

I've heard good things about D'sD, I probably will pick it up when I've cleared another couple of AAA titles out of my Steam list.

InBlack, I was in the same boat as you. Dark Souls was just to clunky feeling and I didn't enjoy it very much. As for Dragons Dogma it had some killer combat moves you could do with your henchmen and some other things that set it apart. One thing that did get a little old was you had to run all over the place, and at night if you got stuck outside it could get brutal.

Oh I do like the occasional game but not for $60, not for $30 and not even for $20 unless it is really, really, really special.
For normal games and especially console ports like this one I'm not paying more than $9.99 for digital rent - the sweet spot is $4.99.
Give me a DRM-free (disc check max) retail copy or a GOG version so I can actually own the game and I might consider spending more but I'm not renting console ports for outrageous prices. Fuck that.
