No. It changes the vague responses like "agree" to exactly what the character is gonna say when you choose that option.

My big advice before you've picked the Commonwealth clean: Go to Diamond City, follow that main quest until something in the sky will definitely catch your eye. After that, go about your business again freely.

Seriously, take the advice. I would've wanted someone to give it to me. And, indeed, otherwise you will be OP.

I would be better served having someone do a color blind mod so every choice doesn't look the same color....

I just sigh when I think back to Todd Howard sitting there, talking about how you'd get to know your character BEFORE the war, so you'd feel much closer to him/her and the family, and it would resonate more, and then you start playing the game and the whole pre-war stuff is literally over in five minutes.

I think the game would have had a better emotional impact had you spent more time before the bombs fell. Almost like even going on a shopping trip or something or even a full day of "Normal" life things, getting up the next day and then it happens.

BUT in doing so, people would complain that its not fast enough and the people that hate when games are badly paced would be up in arms.

Me however? would have made much more of an impact having the in-game family. And more attachment to the world that is now gone.

Oh yeah, I agree. I think the entire opening of FO4 being rushed is because people moaned about and hated the slow, plodding opening of FO3. Maybe for FO5, they can just make you choose whether you want to play the opening or not. And if you say "not", you just go straight to your first step out of the Vault.

Did not even talk to him. Opened the door to his room and it was the only time I've ever used a fatman in Fallout (tons of mini nukes in this one too, I'm at ~35 or so in my inventory, I think New Vegas has 25 or so in the entire game). No talking. Just boom.

Heh. I was taking out this base of mercs in a car graveyard at one point, and had proceeded to kill all but the leader, who was high up on a freeway overpass. I get him in my sniper scope, see that he's named, has a red skull, and what appears to be a missile launcher. (His back is turned towards me.)

Figuring I can take him, I fire a .50 cal into his head, which in true Bethesda Fallout fashion does roughly 4% damage to his health bar, after which I see him turn around, just manage to utter "oh shi..." before I hear the "pfffeeeeeewwwww" sound and I get nuclearly obliterated.

Sounds like a TV series. I do chuckle at some of the things BN readers get hung up on as if there is only a certain way to do this. A big part of their vision of FO is your own journey, not a per-scripted one from A to Z, that's there but you should also be blazing your own trails and thoughts. It's what they make. Surprise!

As per steam, it's revenue. It used to be defined in the RSS feed. It's also been defined in valve comments from multiple people:

Fallout 4 is so much more fun when you get to Diamond City and start getting more direction. The various sidequests tie into a lot of different locations and give them more context. Having a great time with the game still. I kind of regret going for local leader so quickly in my build, I feel a bit underpowered for some quests but I suspect they're the ones I'm expected to use Power Armor for.

The dialog mod is essential, its such a small change but makes a huge difference.

video game writing and scripts and storylines are about on par with saturday-morning cartoons... and often much worse

not sure why people keep expecting "Paradise Lost" or "War and Peace" or something

now, it would be nice to see a solid story in a game sometime.. just havent seen it much at all

Witcher 3 was great, but it was still about TV series level... still thats way better than most

I'm sure they have. Right before they see something off in the distance and go wandering off to find it. It's an open world game, keeping story direction is almost impossible if you make the world fun to explore. I got lost in the world of New Vegas too and for the record it wasn't that well written, just the sidequests and companion stuff was awesome.

It's really hard to keep that impact and interest from the player when there are 100 different things to do at any given time and you can't predict what the player will want.

Having fun with the game finally after getting through the boring parts early on and getting to grips with my initially gimped STR based character, but it's definitely not free-form in the way that Fallout New Vegas was. I fucking HATE it that I can't be the bad guy and that there is very little choice anywhere in the game. Basically you can choose to finish any given quest, or not. So far Ive only seen one optional side quest addition that, you guessed it, had really no outcome on the quest itself. It's a fun action/exploration game, and Im enjoying the crafting parts way more than I thought I would although the base building is cringe worthy and I haven't touched it. There is very little 'role' playing in the classic sense of the word, the game is more like GTA or Far Cry and it's not a bad game (apart from the horrendous first few hours) but it's definitely not a role playing game.
I have a nifty blue line!

The problem with connecting the story to the player is they throw WAY to much shit at you before they 'set the hook' of going after your son.

Soon as your out of the vault you go home, then settles then base building THEN all different direction without really pointing you in a direction of your son like in the previous games.

They should have sent you to Diamond city 1st (just today I finally went by the entrance which auto triggered it opening), then back to Sanct. THEN basebuilding.
Using a steering wheel on a Burnout game is like using the Space Shuttle controls to fly a kite.
