Fallout 4 Popular

The Steam: Game and Player Statistics page shows the Fallout 4 has already achieved a peak of 445,546 simultaneous players, which Polygon notes is a record for a non-Valve title on the service. According to Steam Charts the previous record-holder was Grand Theft Auto V, which peaked at 360,761 concurrent users shortly after launch. This graph puts this information in visual form, though the line graph is not particularly suited to the data.

My biggest marvel so far is finding an intact toilet, they exist!

Why do you give a shit about something so trivial? There are so many other big problems with the game to care about.

Haha whatever. It's a random harmless observation, not a national crisis. I am just amused that people have been resettling the world but don't take 2 seconds to sweep up their homes. It just pulls me out of the game a bit. I've found one clean house so far tied to a quest which was a nice contrast.

I had Hancock with me when I went into that house. He lives in a dump. He said "Whoa.... people actually live here? How?" in disgust. They see dirty/filth as normal, clean as odd/different I guess.

? This post makes the least sense ever.

The world went to shit 200+ years ago. Those toilets you're talking about had to weather a nuke and 200+ years of post-apocolyptic wasteland.

Some really useful tips that I've found, posted from another thread:

- Pressing the E key is the same as pressing the Enter key in most prompts.

- Holding down Shift and using WASD is the same as using the arrow keys in certain menus. Very handy in Build mode.

- Holding down the E key when you have an object selected in Build mode will allow you to use the mouse wheel to raise/lower the object as well as decrease the spin and movement speed of said object.

- Dogmeat (and other companions) can equip certain gear if you trade it with him and get him to equip it (T key). From a quick test, so far Dogmeat can equip welding goggles, bandanas and various dog collars. Saw a screenshot of him armored up so some armors might work.

- Holding down Tab turns on the Pipboy light/Power Armor Headlamp.

- Vegetable Starch is the answer for all your Adhesive needs.

Also, someone's found a way to get building objects to clip through the environment/other building parts in Build mode. This essentially allows you to build any object on any Settlement surface and will allow people to build REALLY elaborate bases now:

Wow, thanks mate! Some really useful tips in there!

Are you referring to the Sentry bot with the skull icon around the building by the overpass? I was able to easily kill this thing from the overpass. They have TERRIBLE aiming up; but are lethal at the ground level.

No this one is legendary, I'll post his location next so you can stop reading if you want :p

Bit of a spoiler but he is in a Nation Guard Fort and he ambushes you as you exit, he killed me the first time so I went back prepared with my suit as there wasn't much terrain advantage for the player.

Holy hell are the Legendary MOBS tough. I'm exploring the map starting from the very Northern top (game tip says tougher stuff heading South) and then doing row sweeps from West->East and vice-versa. Have come across two different Legendary MOBS already in the first West->East (from Sanctuary) sweep. Ran away once, died the next. Have decent guns, they just take some massive damage. Yikes...

Great game so far, building the Settlement has been an excellent addition to the game.

Back to exploring!

But yeah, they are quite tough. Drop some really good loot though with bonuses you can't craft, usually the better weapons/armor to upgrade.

13 Hours in...

I've completed 1 Mission...

The rest of the time I've collected and slowly walked back to the settlement... I'm a klepto more than usual now...

Bugs: PiP Boy & Computer Screens Vanish sometimes or zoom in more than they should.

I loaded a save and the robot vanished

I'm loving the game. I couldn't get into F:NV but this one has been really fun and plays pretty damn good.

30 minutes into the game, first bug: completely stuck after interacting with the Overseer's terminal. Had to reload. Twice.

No big deal though. Great first impressions!

Overall Fallout 4 is very fun! Surprisingly I enjoy the home building part the most. It's so awesome to build a settlement out of the ruins of your former neighborhood with Wasteland trash, and then watch your village build into a community from NPCs you've met and helped. They become reliant on you to provide water, food, electricity, defense, beds, and so forth. SO awesome! Bethesda really nailed it. It's like The Sims meets Minecraft meets Fallout.

However, keep in mind that if you don't scrap each item individually and instead, automatically use them in recipes, there is a chance where you will lose the other resouces that you haven't used from the item. Eg, I use the wood from the pencil without scrapping, but lose the lead.

They need to fix that, because it's seriously, seriously annoying. The game ruined a mini-nuke item for me because of one screw...
And I REALLY have no desire to sit there for probably 15 hours and individually scrape every single piece of junk I have, because it's probably well over a thousand by now.

This is from STEAM, under Fallout Guides about scraping, FYI -

Getting Resources

How to get resources from buildings and unpickupable items
Before going to the lists, the first thing a beginner should know is how to scrap buildings, furniture or level actors like trees into the base building blocks like wood, steel and concrete. To do this, you must be in range of a workbench. If you are in range of a workbench, you can hold V to access the workbench mechanics. Workbenches can be found everywhere that a settlement can be founded, for example, Sanctuary. After this is done, look at the item you want to scrap (for example, a tree or a rubber tire) and press R. This should bring up another menu telling you what you will get if you scrap the specific item. If you click yes, the item will disappear from the world, and the scrapped materials can be found at the workbench.

How to get resources from items, weapons and armor

Simply drop said item you want to scrap within the boundaries of a workbench, hold V, look at the item, then press R. The same screen should pop up and the materials that have been scrapped will, yet again, be located at the workbench.
However, keep in mind that if you don't scrap each item individually and instead, automatically use them in recipes, there is a chance where you will lose the other resouces that you haven't used from the item. Eg, I use the wood from the pencil without scrapping, but lose the lead.

Accessing the scrapped resources

To access and transport the resources made via scrapping, go to the workbench and press R (or whatever your ‘transfer’ key is).

Shortcuts, Tips and Tricks
- When at your workbench, you can press T by default to automatically store all junk in the workshop storage.

- When building, you can hover over a blueprint that you don't have resources over, and press Q to tag. What this does is that whenever you find an item in the world that has a specific resource that you have tagged, it will show up with a 'magnifying glass' next to it. This is extremely helpful in shop menus and tags can last infinitely.

- Crafting anything within the workbench circle (marked by the green line) will automatically rely on the workbench's inventory for materials before searching in the player's inventory. This means that keeping anything material in a separate chest aside from the workbench, is not a good idea.

- If you scrap a container with items still inside, the items will teleport to the storage of the workbench.

- A scavenging container allows a settler to be assigned to it. Once assigned, random resources will be appearing in your workshop storage.
