No More WoW Numbers [Nov 04, 2015, 10:33 am ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Activision Blizzard says they will no longer announce subscriber counts for
World of Warcraft, their subscription MMORPG. In
yesterday's
financial reporting they revealed the game is down to 5.5 million
subscribers, which is still impressive, but well under half the game's peak.
With their user count getting smaller every time around, they no longer feel
this is in their best interests to continue publicizing the game's gradual
decline.
GameSpot quotes how they explained this during their post-earnings
conference call: "Note that this is the last quarter that we plan to provide
subscriber numbers," the company said. "There are other metrics that are better
indicators of the overall Blizzard business performance."

Developers do know what players want more than players do. Players are idiots who fall for things like anecdotes, confirmation bias and tribalism. Devs should listen to players and consider what's said but ultimately the developer has to have the overall vision.

It wont be much longer now. Ill bet they even get to the point of reducing their server count down to half.
The might is finally falling. and Blizz has nothing waiting in its wings to take its place.
Blizz is to concentrated on trying to compete with LOL that they are missing the boat.
