Batman: Arkham Knight Refunds

A Steam Community Group Announcement from Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment says they will give refunds for Batman: Arkham Knight and the season pass for those still dissatisfied with the state of the superhero sequel following its recent rerelease. Here's word, including word from Valve for those having problems with the process:
We are very sorry that many our customers continue to be unhappy with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues.

Until the end of 2015, we will be offering a full refund on Batman: Arkham Knight PC, regardless of how long you have played the product. You can also return the Season Pass along with the main game (but not separately). For those of you that hold onto the game, we are going to continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix.

Thank you,

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment

EDIT BY VALVE: For users still running into playtime based refund rejections, we are looking into what is causing those. Please wait to re-submit your refund until we have this resolved. Thank you.

Console ports have been around since the early 90's. It's not a new phenomenon and not the reason why games have been dumbed down. No, games have been dumbed down in order to appeal to a larger audience. This is the result of development costs rising exponentially since the 90's. If you want the high production values of AAA games, you'll have to accept that said games are going to be more simplistic and accessible. If you don't care about high production values, there are plenty of hardcore indie games out there.
Exactly. It's about appealing to a large audience and making the game accessible. More importantly, there is a lot of competition and developers want games to be accessible. I don't want to have to learn complicated mechanics specific to a single game, as not only is that tedious but if I come back to the game months later it's easy to have forgotten how to play it.

It's really about the demographics the game targets. For instance, I've seen lots of complaints about Battlefront being too dumbed down when people don't realise it's designed for a more casual audience, especially children. It's not like Battlefield 4 which is catered to a much more competitive demographic - they're SHOULDN'T be the same. Personally I enjoy casual games for what they are - sure Skyrim doesn't have the roleplaying depth of Dragon Age: Origins but it's not trying to. It's the same with EVE: Valkyrie or No Man's Sky - they're nowhere near as deep as Star Citizen is aiming for but they don't need to be.

Very few games are dumbed down because of consoles these days - they're made that way by design. Back in the day I used to care a lot about dedicated servers and mods yet nowadays they're less important to me because there are simply too many games out there - it's very rare that I'll play any particular game for years. Those that I do - like Civilization V, Dota 2, Team Fortress 2 - are the exception but do tend to be the games with greater depth and replayability.

The things he shows there have been a disease of "PC" games for a long time. Ever since console ports started. Most games are massively dumbed down nowadays and coupled with extremely shitty controls. Most people have adapted (or actually play with a controller on the PC - LOL). I refused to. Yet I still breeze through those games, because they are so dumbed down so it actually doesnt matter if you do lots of mistakes due to the horrible controls.

The sad thing is this is not even Rocksteady's fault. I completely blame WB. This is going to make me think twice about buying a WB published title.

They apologize by offering full refunds up until the end of 2015... Meanwhile Valve is hoping to get the refund rejections issues fixed before the end of 2015...

An arcade racer has very simplistic driving physics, so that you can use ANY device imaginable. I play my arcade racers with the keyboard just fine.

But driving anything more complex than Flatout or Burnout Paradise, you should use a wheel, especially when playing simulations like the new Dirt Rally on harder difficulties, without driver assistance.

Parker missed the mark by a mile, as usual, and Beaver is the kind of person who pushes an old lady down and kicks her and says "what? I'm just walking along, what are you mad at me about?".

I play a lot of games on my PC. Some work better kb/m, some work better with a controller. Laughing at the "stupidity" of people using the right device for the job seems...well, stupid. If the ONLY games you play are RTS/FPS, well then you won't need a controller. Playing a racing game, or a fighting game (SF, MK), or a brawler (oh hello there Batman), and you're better off with a controller. I switch back and forth in GTA5.

The community in here can be childish, but there's a LOT LOT LOT less little-kid logic than most boards. I prefer Blue's because it's no-frills, which is nice when I'm browsing it on my phone. Well, that and I've been coming here for so long I can't remember checking gaming news without it.

Actually there are games that just play better with a different controller then a mouse and keyboard. Flight Sims, Lego games, platformers, driving sims etc.

Try flying a helicopter in a GTA game with a mouse and keyboard vs a controller.
Using a steering wheel on a Burnout game is like using the Space Shuttle controls to fly a kite.

Mac is awful because he's too much of a professional victim. Rather than provide a balanced overview of most games, he dwells on the poor aspects of the game while going full retard with his bell. The Vermintide review is especially awful because he trashes it for the entire duration about how it crashes on his PC and how it's a ripoff of L4D then waves his hand calling it OK with nothing to explain why or how it's OK and then gets pissed off when people call him out on his videos.

His shtick of being an emotional man-child only works on games which are truly awful like those Simulator titles he reviewed some time ago.

People shouldn't listen to retards like that guy from WorthABuy. His shit isn't WorthAWatch. Yes...spam X to get no experience and don't learn how to play the game. You eventually get your ass kicked beyond the first 10min of the game...but yea, go ahead, spam X.

They've basically fucked themselves here for any future pre-orders of games. No one in their right mind is going to purchase any future releases until they've seen the post-release reviews. Talk about an expensive mistake.

First thing I see is the last few seconds of a scene involving him trying to line up a ramp in the hardest configuration possible. I rewind it a bit and hear him complaining about how you have to get it just perfect otherwise you have to waste time jumping out of the Batmobile to realign the ramp.

All you have to do is set the ramp on the other side, the one THE CAR'S ON, then you jump it easily. Please don't tell me publishers are sitting around watching videos like these thinking, "Our puzzles are still too difficult!".
