Happy All Hallow's Eve Eve! I guess that makes this Halloweeneen? Either way, it's also Friday, so there should be something in there to celebrate.

On the topic of sports - Rugby World Cup (once every 4 years) final tomorrow - New Zealand V Austraila, first time they have meet in the finals.

New Zealand captain, Richie Macaw, who most believe will retire form international rugby after, will be playing in his 148 International match, I think he as captained NZ over 100 times, old losing 7 of those.

Many call the All Blacks (NZ) the most winning team in any sport ever (winning over %80 of the time) - although I'm unsure just how true that is.

Looking forward to it, early broadcast over here in New Zealand (5am) so many breakfast being sold at the pubs.

OK, back to your American sports.

BTW - my favortie Gary Oldman image was second one down, page two - The RSI Gary Oldman 'Paaaarrp' Air Horn.

Lots of really funny good ones - best thing to come out of Star Citizen so far - their will be many lols if/once the public and the goons get there hands on the actual models of all those actors (Hamill/Anderson ect)

Here in the SF/Oakland Bay Area, Joe Buck is hated. He always seems to make some backhanded compliment or erroneous observation when covering the 49ers or Giants and it starts a wave of hate that just keeps going until his next broadcast. Add to the fact that he is paired with Troy Aikman, not exactly the Bay Area's favorite quarterback and most notably a constant whiner. Predictably, the result is that I know multiple people who mute their TVs and turn on the radio for audio.

As for why he gets the jobs....I think it has more to do with his dad than him. His dad was a phenomenal sportscaster who was best known for his time as the voice of the St. Louis Cardinals but also was on the mic nationally for 18 Super Bowls and 11 World Series. He had an impressive collection of awards and was universally loved and respected in the industry. It's just my opinion of course...but I don't think Joe Buck gets off a local station's sports desk without his father's work to ride on.

I am not sure ANYONE likes Joe Buck. Week after week I am so confused how he is still employed.

The umpires have given Mets pitchers larger strike zones. Reference: Grantland article. It's in the third section.

Interestingly, that part of article is not about bad calls, it's about the influence of the catcher on balls and strikes, as they credit/blame each team's catcher for the discrepancies. However, it does show in numbers just how many bad calls they've been making, and I think it's time baseball just started calling pitches with technology.

Speaking of Fox, I was amazed at the delay when their broadcast truck went down, as if it somehow diminished the game to lose Joe Buck's commentary (though I do like Harold Reynolds). I really think they believe their broadcasters are somehow a draw beyond the game itself.

Joe Buck is terrible.

I don't know anyone who likes him. Why is he always on my TV?

Haha, I don't really watch many national baseball broadcasts, so it's altogether possible I'd hate him in the long run (Hell, I'm a Giants fan who has grown to dislike Phil Simms as a football broadcaster), but in that group he comes off as the voice of reason.

Actually, I am most surprised I can stand him at all just because of that squeaky voice. Either way, as a trio their team is just dreadful.

Which is precisely why MLB has mandated that they don't show the strike tracker during live ABs in the WS. FIGHT THAT TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT, MLB!

Joe Buck is convinced he's the very soul of television. BUY A FLIPPING RAZOR, JOE BUCK.

Anyway, I was hoping their truck would stay down the entire week. The international broadcast was a lot more enjoyable than Buck's bored drone and Harold Reynold's stupid bleating.

No, from the context of going the other way. That by remarking on them as you have they're now down 2-0, so avoiding mention of them would help. It's a common sports superstition for fans.

Actually I'm aware that most are not that interested in the amount I ramble about sports as it is, so I was refraining from commenting on the daily goings on.

But I guess it seems like I'm shirking a ball busting or something. So if my thoughts on this really are of interest, here they are: the Royals look great so far, and the Mets don't. And no, I am not happy that my team is down 2-0 in the series... apologies to anyone who lost money betting I would be. It's not over, but it's obviously an uphill climb, and tonight is a must-win.

Also, the home plate umpiring has been atrocious for both teams, as ball and strike calls are awful... if Fox used the strike tracker like TBS does it would look like a comedy.
